It's official. The Catholic Knight is retired.  I'm hanging up the helmet and passing the torch. There will be no more articles, no more commentaries, no more calls to action. THIS BLOG IS CLOSED. I've spent a very long time thinking about this, I believe the time has come, and is a bit overdue.  I want to thank my readers for everything, but most especially for your encouragement and your willingness to go out there and fight the good fight. So, that being the case, I've spend the last several weeks looking for bloggers who are fairly active, and best represent something akin to the way I think and what I believe.  I recommend the following blogs for my readers to bookmark and check on regularly. Pick one as your favourite, or pick them all. They are all great..... In His Majesty's Service, THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT

US Bishops Want Catholic Voters To "Transform" Political Parties

(Catholic News Service) - "As Catholics, we should be guided more by our moral convictions than by our attachment to a political party or interest group," the draft document says. "When necessary, our participation should help transform the party to which we belong; we should not let the party transform us in such a way that we neglect or deny fundamental moral truths."

THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT: So what does this mean? It means that if a Catholic is a Democrat, (s)he should be working to transform the Democratic Party's position on abortion and scientific research to Pro-Life. It means that if a Catholic is a Republican, (s)he should be working to transform the Republican Party's position on war and the death penalty to Pro-Life. Likewise, the same things apply to party positions on Gay-Marriage and School-Choice. We Catholics should be working toward changing the parties we belong to, so that they are more in line with Catholic Social Justice. The US Catholic bishops are not alone in telling us this. They enjoy the full support of the Pope and Vatican on this issue. We are to transform our political parties. Our political parties are not to transform us.
