It's official. The Catholic Knight is retired.  I'm hanging up the helmet and passing the torch. There will be no more articles, no more commentaries, no more calls to action. THIS BLOG IS CLOSED. I've spent a very long time thinking about this, I believe the time has come, and is a bit overdue.  I want to thank my readers for everything, but most especially for your encouragement and your willingness to go out there and fight the good fight. So, that being the case, I've spend the last several weeks looking for bloggers who are fairly active, and best represent something akin to the way I think and what I believe.  I recommend the following blogs for my readers to bookmark and check on regularly. Pick one as your favourite, or pick them all. They are all great..... In His Majesty's Service, THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT

Why The 'Right' Hates Huckabee

THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT: It would seem the power-brokers in the Republican Party have an ax to grind against Mike Huckabee. Why? The following is an observation from RedState.org. My analysis will follow...

(RedState.com) - The Club for Growth slammed Huckabee for not taking the ATR "no tax" pledge, and based on this action, they suggested that Huckabee would raise taxes once President:

On January 28, 2007, Governor Huckabee refused to pledge not to raise taxes if elected President, first on Meet the Press and then at the National Review Conservative Summit. The evidence suggests that his commitment to protecting taxpayers evidenced in his early gubernatorial years may be a thing of the past.

Huckabee did eventually sign the pledge. The interesting thing is that Rudy, John McCain, and Fred have refused to sign this "no tax" pledge. Here is Grover Norquist's statement on Fred's hesitance to sign the pledge:

In an interview with The Hill last week, Norquist said he was led to believe by Thompson’s economic advisers that Thompson would sign the pledge.

"I think he will," Norquist said. "However, he did not sign the pledge when he was in the Senate."

Norquist added that Thompson’s hesitance to sign "makes me nervous."

Perhaps sensing that Thompson would rule out signing the pledge, Norquist said such a decision could come back to haunt Thompson’s campaign in conservative areas.

"If he decides not to [sign], it wouldn’t end his race tomorrow," Norquist said. "But over the next several months, I think it would be a tremendous drag on the ticket."

Did the Club for Growth ever mention that these three candidates have refused to sign the pledge? No. They are absolutely silent on the issue. Did the Club for Growth update their assessment of Huckabee to reflect the fact that Huckabee has signed the pledge? No. This one data point alone is evidence that the Club for Growth's information is both biased and outdated....

So what's the deal? Why does the 'Club for Growth' have it out for Huckabee? I propose, and it is my opinion, that the 'Club for Growth's' actions (along with those of other Republican power-brokers), have more to do with Huckabee's legitimate Pro-Life record than anything else. You see, it is in the Republican Party's interest to keep abortion legal. Why? Because it serves as a good polarizing issue. It keeps the Values Voters distracted. The globalists in the GOP know Evangelical Protestants and Pro-Life Catholics would never sign on to the endless expansion of big government, the dissolution of our national boarders, and the creation of continental unions under a globalist trade agenda. So to elect globalist politicians, they need the abortion issue alive and well, to keep these conservative Christians in line -- voting in lockstep with the right. A globalist Republican only need to come out as "Pro-Life" (in spite of his record to the contrary), and promise to champion the cause. Values Voters jump on board the band-wagon, elect the globalist, (he fulfills some of the promises, but makes sure abortion is kept legal), and then carries out his globalist agenda. We only need look as far as our current president, George W. Bush, to see the plan in action.

Mike Huckabee stands out as a truly Pro-Life candidate on the Republican short-list, who really will do everything in his power to put an end to abortion in America. In my opinion, that's why they're attacking him unfairly, though his record on other conservative issues is no better (and no worse) than other front-running candidates. If he's elected president, and he's successful, it might bring about the demise of abortion in America. If that happens, it takes away the one polarizing issue that's kept globalists in power for the last 20+ years. I believe they would much rather accept a Hillary Clinton victory in 2008 than see that happen.

Cardinal Warns Western Christians of Coming Persecution

THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT: Behold the prophecy...
Revelation 20:7-8
When the thousand years are over, Satan will be released from his prison and will go out to deceive the nations in the four corners of the earth...
These words could very well be coming true within our generation. In fact, based on the warnings we've been getting from the bishops (including the popes) for the last 15 years, it would appear that is the case. Impending persecution of the Church in the Western World is coming -- soon!
(LifeSiteNews.com) - In a stirring essay on the coming tensions between the secular world and the Catholic Church, Sydney's Cardinal George Pell has outlined threats to the freedom of religion stemming from biotechnology, gay 'rights' and fears of Islamic violence. The must read piece titled, "Prospects for peace and rumours of war: Religion and democracy in the years ahead," is a serious reflection despite Pell's characteristic use of wit.

Beginning on the hopeful note that the Church, despite the desires of certain atheist fanatics, is here to stay; the Cardinal points to trends which have already commenced which threaten a clampdown on freedom of religion...

Brave Aussie Bishop Stands Up To Pink Mafia

(ABC News) - The Catholic Archbishop of Sydney, Cardinal George Pell, has argued in favour of maintaining discrimination against gay couples, saying it is wrong to equate the position with any sort of racial discrimination.

Cardinal Pell's argument has the backing of a large Christian lobby group, which is flexing its muscle as the election draws nearer.

After being accused of contempt of the New South Wales Parliament this year, Cardinal Pell knows all too well the perils of preaching to politicians.

But last night in Sydney, launching his own book about religion and politics, he attacked those who say the church should not get political...

THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT: I saw this on YouTube and loved it! Thought you might enjoy too...

Gosh! I think there might be a subtle resemblance...

Tridentine Latin Mass Makes HUGE Comeback

THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT: As expected, the so-called "unpopular" and "archaic" Tridentine Latin Mass is making a HUGE comeback. Critics all over the western world, and especially in the United States, predicted the pope's recent motu proprio (Summorum Pontificum) liberalizing use of the "Extraordinary Form" of the mass would amount to little. In spite of the document's accompanying letter explaining otherwise, they told us the pope's action on this matter was aimed specifically at reconciling dissident traditionalists, and served no real purpose in the general Catholic population. The pope's critics were WRONG! Though they'll probably never admit it, the "Extraordinary" (Tridendtine) form of the mass is making a BIG comeback in the general Catholic population....
(The Washington Times) - Roman Catholic churches nationwide are rushing to accommodate a surge in demand for the traditional Latin Mass, which is drawing a surprising new crowd: young people.

Since July, when a decree from Pope Benedict XVI lifted decades-old restrictions on celebrating the Tridentine Mass, seven churches in the Washington metropolitan area have added the liturgy to their weekly Sunday schedules...

Arkansas Goes Tridentine

THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT: Some news from close to home...
(Arkansas Catholic) - Fifty-seven priests and two deacons attended clergy continuing education Oct. 16-18 at St. John Center in Little Rock to learn more about the expanded use of the Latin Mass.

Father Joseph Portzer, a former chaplain for the St. John Latin Mass Community in North Little Rock, returned to Arkansas to lead the program on Pope Benedict XVI's apostolic letter "Summorum Pontificum," which went into effect Sept. 14. The expansion of the extraordinary form of the Mass is often referred to as "motu proprio," meaning the decree is the pope's personal initiative in the matter.

Near the conclusion of the program, about 35 priests and two deacons attended a High Mass celebrated by Father Terrence Gordon, the current assistant chaplain for the Latin Mass community in North Little Rock, Cherokee Village and Mountain Home....

Huckabee Surges in Polls - Becomes an Icon of Values Voters

THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT: Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee (www.MikeHuckabee.com), continues to rise in national polls. The former governor of Arkansas knocked Mit Romney out of fourth place for the fourth straight day now, and continues to creep up point by point on Rasmussen's daily presidential tracking.

In the last week, Huckabee has become an icon of traditional conservatism and the frustrated Pro-Life movement within the Republican Party. Earlier this month, the Family Research Council (FRC) hosted a 'Values Voters Summit' in response to disappointment over the top tier candidates on the GOP short list. Huckabee ran away with the vote, gaining over 50% approval of those present at the meeting. Romney came in a distant second place with just 10% approval. Initial media reports tried to downplay the Huckabee victory by pointing out that Romney narrowly beat Huckabee in a second online poll of the Values Voters summit. However, the same media also failed to point out that online polls are widely viewed as notoriously inaccurate, don't often reflect the views of the supposed demographics they represent, and are frequently infiltrated by outside sources. Since the summit, Huckabee has maintained a steady and consistent rise in the national polls, while Romney struggles to hold on to his fifth place standing. As of Monday Huckabee is tied for third place with Senator John McCain at 13% approval on national polls. If Huckabee's national support continues to rise in the polls at its current rate, he will surpass front runners Rudy Giuliani and Fred Thompson in about a week.

A former baptist minister, Mike Huckabee has hit a chord that resonates with Evangelical Protestants and Pro-Life Catholics. "He not only talks the talk, but he also walks the walk" reported one Values Voter at the summit. Huckabee does have a strong Pro-Life record as governor of Arkansas which, unlike Romney's record as governor of Massachusetts, remained consistent throughout his term of office. Huckabee also supports the Federal Marriage Amendment, which if ratified, would protect civil marriage from homosexual activists seeking same-sex unions. These key issues are underpinned by Huckabee's support of the Fair-Tax (www.FairTax.org); a national federal tax overhaul, which if passed would eliminate the IRS, stop all federal withholdings, abolish the income tax, and bolster financial support to American families. Huckabee claims the Fair-Tax would give unprecedented (and much needed) tax relief to families with children at all income levels, and especially those at the lowest income levels. His claim is not without support. The Fair-Tax has been backed and endorsed by more Pro-Family organizations than any other in history. Huckabee also claims the Fair-Tax would restore a level of religious freedom this nation has not seen in nearly 100 years, as churches and synagogues would no longer have to worry about losing their tax-exempt status for addressing political issues from the pulpit. Again, Huckabee's claims seem to be supported by the very nature of the plan itself which eliminates all exemptions along with all income taxes.

Over the last week, Mike Huckabee has essentially become the symbol and icon of Evangelical Protestants and Pro-Life Catholics (Values Voters), as well as their influence in the GOP. No doubt Huckabee will continue to surge in support, and the Republican Party is faced with a serious problem if this candidate doesn't win the GOP nomination at the 2008 convention. However, based on this latest surge of support, it would appear that nomination is easily within his reach.

An Urgent Plea To All Catholic Bloggers

THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT issues an urgent plea to all Catholic bloggers. When you scan the horizon of candidates for president in the 2008 election, you will find none as sincere and authentic on Pro-Life and Pro-Family issues than former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee.

You know that Rudy Giuliani, a self-professed Roman Catholic, has betrayed his faith on matters of human life and traditional family. You know that John McCain also has a weak record on these things. Fred Thompson has shown a less-than-desirable motivation for the presidency. You may also know that Mit Romney may say all the right things when it comes to these issues, but he doesn't have the record as former governor of Massachusetts to back it. Romney was Pro-Abortion until he decided to run in national politics under the Republican banner. Then suddenly he "switched" to Pro-Life. How convenient! Since in order for a Republican candidate to appeal to southern and Midwestern voters in a national race, voters insist he be Pro-Life.

Mike Huckabee, on the other hand, has a record to back up what he says on the campaign trail. He's the only viable top-tier candidate in this race who does. Check out his website here: http://www.mikehuckabee.com/

Let the call go forth to every Catholic blogger. Do your homework on Mike Huckabee, and then support him boldly on your blog. This underdog needs all of our prayer and support to beat a 'system' that would just assume put a left-of-center 'moderate' like Rudy Giulliani in the Whitehouse.

Please join the 'Rosary for Huckabee' campaign (see top of page). Then make a bold statement for him on your blog. Please take action now! You're faith demands it, and your country so desperately needs it.

Federal Court Affirms Parental Rights - Slaps Down Social Worker "Nanny State"

THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT: Here's some important news for parents -- know your rights!
(WorldNetDaily.com) - A federal court has ruled that social workers have to respect the U.S. Constitution regarding privacy and parental rights, and if they don't they may be held liable.

The ruling comes in an Arizona case in which social workers, accompanied by Maricopa County deputy sheriffs, made unsupported threats to place a family's children in custody and arrest the parents if they were not allowed to make what ended up being an allegedly illegal search of the family's home.

U.S. District Judge Earl H. Carroll ordered that a lawsuit by the family against the social workers and sheriff will be allowed to continue, because the social workers' concerns were based on "an anonymous tip that the "Loudermilk children were being neglected and that plaintiffs' home was uninhabitable."

However, the judge said that under federal law, an anonymous tip, "without more, does not constitute probable cause."

400,000 Anglicans Petition To Join Catholic Church

THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT: Let the exodus begin...
(Independant Catholic News) - Three Church of Ireland parishes have asked to be received into full communion with the Catholic Church The Irish Catholic newspaper reports this week.

The parishes, in counties Down, Tyrone and Laois are members of the 'traditional rite' within the Church of Ireland.

The Irish Catholic newspaper, has learnt that the members of these parishes, along with traditional Anglicans from twelve other countries, have signed a letter to the Vatican seeking "full, corporate, sacramental union" with the Catholic Church under the authority of the Pope. The dramatic move would see the entire parish communities received in to the Catholic Church.

While only a few hundred Anglicans in Ireland will be affected, the move, if approved by the Vatican, would see 400,000 Anglicans worldwide admitted into the Catholic Church, the paper reports....

Furious Catholics Demand Vatican Clean Up American Church

See Video & Related Story Here

(WorldNetDaily.com) - The recent highly publicized photos and video of San Francisco Archbishop George Niederauer serving Communion to two flamboyantly dressed members of the ultra anti-Catholic "Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence" was no happenstance.

And soon they will be on their way to the Vatican for any who have not yet seen them.

"I am the gentleman responsible for the filming of the whole thing," Anthony Gonzales, chief of the St. Joseph's Men Society, told WND shortly after the first round of publicity over the photos and video. "I sent one of my men to film this.

"We knew he was going into this parish in the heart of the Castro Street Fair to celebration and be part of the celebration of their lifestyle, and we were waiting to see what he was going to do and how he was going to do it," Gonzales said.

And the reason?

"We can't even take our children to Mass anymore. We can't even go to our churches," he said. "We finally got to the point, and said, 'Hey, look, we can't take this anymore,'" he said....

THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT: "We can't even take our children to Mass anymore." That's what it's come to in some diocese in the United States. The pathetic apathy of the majority of US Catholic bishops has brought us to this.

First, Catholic Americans have had to endure three decades of doctrinal 'innovation' and liturgical abuse. High profile Catholic figures, from politicians to activists, were given communion freely in spite of their public advocacy of abortion and homosexuality. Many priests embraced political correctness. Many nuns became feminists. The historic traditions of the Church (such as the use of gregorian chant, Latin and the chapel veil for women, etc.), kept for thousands of years, were tossed aside like old rags. Our churches were renovated to look more 'Protestant' in appearance. The sacrament was moved to obscure places in some churches, no longer the center of the community's liturgical life. The new (Novus Ordo) mass was celebrated improperly and with a "defective" translation into English - according to the Vatican. Everywhere priests and bishops seemed to look toward the popular culture for inspiration, rather than the historic tradition of Holy Mother Church.

Next, Catholic Americans were forced to endure the worst sex scandal in the history of the Church. Granted, the mainstream media amplified the problem way beyond its reality. Nevertheless, the absolute incompetence, negligence and in some cases corruption, of so many of our US Catholic bishops is what made the American Church vulnerable to this kind of scandal in the first place. Today, the credibility of US Catholicism is shot! Our bishops (as a whole) have no credibility at all. Nobody takes them seriously anymore, not the laity, not the public, and certainly not the media or the government. Though the actual sex-abuse scandal was small in comparison to the kind of sex-abuse that goes on in America's public schools, Catholics in this country are still forced to endure the stares and whispers of non-Catholics who are convinced we molest our kids regularly.

Finally, the mother of all insults has come upon us. Our religion is openly ridiculed and desecrated during the very liturgy of the mass. In what is obviously a planned and premeditated display of public mockery, openly homosexual transvestites wear garb designed to imitate Catholic nuns and parade themselves down the communion line as if they were faithful Catholics. Assisted by apathetic accomplices in the clergy, they receive the sacrament of the Eucharist as if nothing were wrong. All of this is done in front of our children. What kind of message does that send to them? Children know that actions speak louder than words? What are we to tell them? How can we say that neither Christ nor his Church approve of these things, when these mockers receive the sacrament right in front of their impressionable eyes? What is left for us now? Shall we start keeping our children at home on Sundays, away from mass, for their own spiritual protection? Shall any of us go to mass anymore?

I wonder if such public mockery would be tolerated in a SSPX parish? Perhaps that is the only alternative left for faithful Catholics in America. All I know is this. There are a few bishops in the United States who would never tolerate this in their diocese, nor would they tolerate any of the other scandals I mentioned above. I tip my hat to them. But to those who do tolerate such things, I say shame on them! You know, there is more than one way to spiritually endanger a child.

So now it's come to this. Faithful Catholics have no recourse except to videotape the abuses they witness, and send them to the Vatican. Perhaps we should all do that.

The Catholic Knight proposes the following. From now on, everyone should bring a video camera to mass. Put it in a purse or keep it tucked away somehow. Should any liturgical abuse or heretical teaching manifest itself, pull out the trusty camcorder and start taping. Send a copy to your local bishop first, out of courtesy, describing the place and date the abuse occurred, giving him one week to respond. If you don't hear anything, or his actions don't meet your satisfaction, send a copy to the Vatican, along with the same description of time and place. Notify them that your local bishop was also sent a copy, and forward a copy of his unsatisfactory response, if he responded at all. Here is the address you need to send your tapes to the Vatican...

Values Voters Favor Huckabee

Mike Huckabee at the Values Voters Summit...

PART I

PART II

PART III

Huckabee Endorses Fair Tax Plan

"I support the Fair Tax." - Mike Huckabee official website

Q. What is the Fair Tax?
A: The FairTax plan is a comprehensive proposal that replaces all federal income and payroll based taxes with an integrated approach including a progressive national retail sales tax, a prebate to ensure no American pays federal taxes on spending up to the poverty level, dollar-for-dollar federal revenue neutrality, and, through companion legislation, the repeal of the 16th Amendment.

The FairTax Act (HR 25, S 1025) is nonpartisan legislation. It abolishes all federal personal and corporate income taxes, gift, estate, capital gains, alternative minimum, Social Security, Medicare, and self-employment taxes and replaces them with one simple, visible, federal retail sales tax administered primarily by existing state sales tax authorities.

The FairTax taxes us only on what we choose to spend on new goods or services, not on what we earn. The FairTax is a fair, efficient, transparent, and intelligent solution to the frustration and inequity of our current tax system.

The FairTax:

* Abolishes the IRS
* Closes all loopholes and brings fairness to taxation
* Ensures Social Security and Medicare funding
* Brings transparency and accountability to tax policy
* Allows American products to compete fairly
* Reimburses the tax on purchases of basic necessities
* Enables retirees to keep their entire pension
* Enables workers to keep their entire paycheck

Get More Information Here

THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT: The Fair Tax is NOT a "flat tax," and has nothing to do with income taxes at all. Rather, it completely eliminates income taxes entirely, and replaces them with a single retail sales tax which is collected at the cash register when you buy things. It is the ONLY tax reform proposal in existence that complies will ALL of the principles of CATHOLIC SOCIAL JUSTICE. The Fair Tax taxes you on what you spend, not on what you earn. So that being the case, people with larger incomes spend more, and therefore get taxed more. No more loopholes. No more tax shelters. People with less money spend less, and therefore get taxed less. Everybody gets reimbursed all taxes on necessities monthly, via a social security rebate check, insuring that those in poverty pay no taxes, and nobody pays taxes on essentials (things they need to survive). This truly is a tax reform proposal born right out of the pages of the Catechism of the Catholic Church.

Huckabee On Catholic Social Justice - Life

The Pope's 3 Principles On Catholic Voting

  1. "protection of life in all its stages, from the first moment of conception to natural death";
  2. "recognition and promotion of the natural structure of the family -- as a union between a man and a woman based on marriage -- and its defense from attempts to make it juridically equivalent to radically different forms of union which in reality harm it and contribute to its de-stabilization, obscuring its particular character and its irreplaceable social role";
  3. and "the protection of the right of parents to educate their children."

CATECHISM OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH

Part 3, Section 2, Chapter 2, Article 5, SubSection 1, Heading 4

2271 Since the first century the Church has affirmed the moral evil of every procured abortion. This teaching has not changed and remains unchangeable. Direct abortion, that is to say, abortion willed either as an end or a means, is gravely contrary to the moral law:

You shall not kill the embryo by abortion and shall not cause the newborn to perish. 75

God, the Lord of life, has entrusted to men the noble mission of safeguarding life, and men must carry it out in a manner worthy of themselves. Life must be protected with the utmost care from the moment of conception: abortion and infanticide are abominable crimes. 76

Part 3, Section 2, Chapter 2, Article 5, SubSection 1, Heading 4

2272 Formal cooperation in an abortion constitutes a grave offense. The Church attaches the canonical penalty of excommunication to this crime against human life. "A person who procures a completed abortion incurs excommunication latae sententiae," 77 "by the very commission of the offense," 78 and subject to the conditions provided by Canon Law. 79 The Church does not thereby intend to restrict the scope of mercy. Rather, she makes clear the gravity of the crime committed, the irreparable harm done to the innocent who is put to death, as well as to the parents and the whole of society.

Part 3, Section 2, Chapter 2, Article 5, SubSection 1, Heading 4

2274 Since it must be treated from conception as a person, the embryo must be defended in its integrity, cared for, and healed, as far as possible, like any other human being.

Prenatal diagnosis is morally licit, "if it respects the life and integrity of the embryo and the human fetus and is directed toward its safe guarding or healing as an individual.... It is gravely opposed to the moral law when this is done with the thought of possibly inducing an abortion, depending upon the results: a diagnosis must not be the equivalent of a death sentence." 82

Part 3, Section 2, Chapter 2, Article 5, SubSection 3, Heading 2

2322 From its conception, the child has the right to life. Direct abortion, that is, abortion willed as an end or as a means, is a "criminal" practice (GS 27 § 3), gravely contrary to the moral law. The Church imposes the canonical penalty of excommunication for this crime against human life.

From the Mike Huckabee 4 President Official Website

  • I support and have always supported passage of a constitutional amendment to protect the right to life. My convictions regarding the sanctity of life have always been clear and consistent, without equivocation or wavering. I believe that Roe v. Wade should be over-turned.
  • I applaud the Supreme Court's recent decision in Gonzales v. Cathcart forbidding the gruesome practice of partial birth abortion. While I am optimistic that we are turning the tide in favor of life, we still have many battles ahead of us to protect those who cannot protect themselves, and so it is vital that we elect a pro-life President.
  • I first became politically active because of abortion, when I helped pass Arkansas' Unborn Child Amendment, which requires the state to do whatever it legally can to protect life.
  • As Governor, I did all I could to protect life. The many pro-life laws I got through my Democrat legislature are the accomplishments that give me the most pride and personal satisfaction.
  • To me, life doesn't begin at conception and end at birth. Every child deserves a quality education, first-rate health care, decent housing in a safe neighborhood, and clean air and drinking water. Every child deserves the opportunity to discover and use his God-given gifts and talents.
  • I believe in using existing stem cell lines for research, but I do not believe in creating life for the sole purpose of destroying it.

  3. and "the protection of the right of parents to educate their children."
THE CATECHISM OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH

Part 3, Section 2, Chapter 2, Article 4, SubSection 2

2209 The family must be helped and defended by appropriate social measures. Where families cannot fulfill their responsibilities, other social bodies have the duty of helping them and of supporting the institution of the family. Following the principle of subsidiarity, larger communities should take care not to usurp the family's prerogatives or interfere in its life.

Part 3, Section 2, Chapter 2, Article 4, SubSection 2

2210 The importance of the family for the life and well-being of society 13 entails a particular responsibility for society to support and strengthen marriage and the family. Civil authority should consider it a grave duty "to acknowledge the true nature of marriage and the family, to protect and foster them, to safeguard public morality, and promote domestic prosperity." 14

Part 3, Section 2, Chapter 2, Article 4, SubSection 2

2211 The political community has a duty to honor the family, to assist it, and to ensure especially:

- the freedom to establish a family, have children, and bring them up in keeping with the family's own moral and religious convictions;

- the protection of the stability of the marriage bond and the institution of the family;

- the freedom to profess one's faith, to hand it on, and raise one's children in it, with the necessary means and institutions;

- the right to private property, to free enterprise, to obtain work and housing, and the right to emigrate;

- in keeping with the country's institutions, the right to medical care, assistance for the aged, and family benefits;

- the protection of security and health, especially with respect to dangers like drugs, pornography, alcoholism, etc.;

- the freedom to form associations with other families and so to have representation before civil authority. 15

Part 3, Section 2, Chapter 2, Article 6, SubSection 2, Heading 5

2357 Homosexuality refers to relations between men or between women who experience an exclusive or predominant sexual attraction toward persons of the same sex. It has taken a great variety of forms through the centuries and in different cultures. Its psychological genesis remains largely unexplained. Basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity, 141 tradition has always declared that "homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered." 142 They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved.

From the Mike Huckabee 4 President Official Website
  • I support and have consistently supported passage of a federal constitutional amendment that defines marriage as a union between one man and one woman.
  • As Governor of Arkansas, I led the successful effort to pass a similar state constitutional amendment in 2002.
  • As Governor of Arkansas, I led the successful effort to make our state only the third to adopt "covenant" marriage.
  • Our true strength comes from our families.

'The Catholic Knight' Endorses Mike Huckabee For President in 2008

'THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT' joins with Evangelicals and other "Values Voters" in endorsing Governor Mike Huckabee for President of the United States in 2008. Now that Senator Sam Brownback has pulled out of the race, I sincerely hope other orthodox and practicing Catholics will join with me in this coalition. The time for division is over. Unless we're willing to accept a Clinton/Obama victory in the 2008 presidential race, we had better unite behind a candidate that both Catholics and Evangelicals can support. Governor Mike Huckabee is that man. Please take the time to review his candidacy...

Huckabee On The Issues

Chuck Norris Joins Forces With The Catholic Knight...
(WorldNetDaily.com) -- One presidential candidate gets a secret weapon today – the unabashed and unreserved endorsement of Chuck Norris.

You might think it would be fellow actor Fred Thompson, late of "Law & Order." After all, not only do they have the entertainment industry connection in common, but it's been said Norris was suing NBC, claiming 'Law & Order' are the names of his left and right legs."

You might think it would be Hillary Clinton, because Chuck Norris' tear allegedly could create enough liquidity to nationalize health care.

Or, you might think it would be Ron Paul, because he wants to replace the entire Department of Homeland Security with Chuck Norris.

But if those were your guesses, you'd be wrong about who Chuck Norris is officially endorsing for president today in his exclusive column for WND.

It's not even one of the media-anointed front-runners – at least he wasn't a front-runner before this development.

It's former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee....

As A Practicing Catholic - I Can't Vote For Rudy

THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT: As a practicing Catholic, I would rather vote for a Baptist minister than a pro-abort heretic like Rudy Giuliani. You can't be Catholic and 'Pro-Choice.' What's the difference between him and John Kerry?

GOP Will Nominate Huckabee For President

THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT: The GOP will nominate Governor Mike Huckabee for president in 2008 because it has to. Huckabee has won the overwhelming approval of the "Values Voters" coalition which met in a summit over the weekend. Governor Mit Romney came in a distant second, while Mayor Rudy Giuliani and former Senator Fred Thompson barely showed up on the radar screen. It's clear that the "Values Voters" favorite is Huckabee, and this presents a serious problem for the GOP, because the Republican candidate for president cannot win in the general election without the support of this key constituency.

So the GOP is now faced with just three possibilities. Though several candidates still remain in the race, just three have enough steam to see it through to the convention. They are Mayor Rudy Giuliani, Governor Mit Romney and now thanks to the Values Voters summit, Governor Mike Huckabee. The three possibilities for the GOP are...

  1. Nominate Giuliani, split the Republican vote, and insure a Hillary Clinton victory in the general election.

  2. Nominate Romney, get weak support from the Values Voters, and still risk the chance of a Hillary victory in the general election.

  3. Nominate Huckabee, get the full and energized support of Values Voters, and trounce Hillary Clinton in a landslide victory.

So now the question is what will the GOP do? Is it really interested in victory in 2008, or is it willing to concede the presidency to the Democratic front runner?

(The Christian Post) - The Baptist preacher from Arkansas who sprinkled his speech with southern jokes while standing his ground on moral issues won the support of over half the religious and cultural conservatives who voted at a key gathering this weekend.

Republican White House hopeful and former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee received 51.26 percent of the onsite votes in the Values Voter Summit’s straw poll compared to onsite runner-up Mitt Romney’s 10.40 percent, according to announcement Saturday....

US Congress Forces Christians To Hire Gays

(WorldNetDaily.com) - "All other faith-based organizations – even though which are tax exempt – would be discriminated against under the bill. Groups such as Christian schools, Christian camps, faith-based soup kitchens and Bible book stores would be forced to adopt a view of human sexuality which directly conflicts with fundamental tenets of their faith," he said.

"ENDA would ultimately give liberal judges the authority to subjectively determine who qualifies for the exemption. It's the goose that laid the golden egg for homosexual activist attorneys, and it would open the floodgates for lawsuits against employers who wish to live out their faith and even those who don't," he said.

LaBarbera said the word that White House staffers have been working on proposals makes the situation worse,

"Failure to veto ENDA would be a devastating defeat for pro-family forces and a huge gift to homosexual lobbyists. Call the president …. and urge him to 'please publicly pledge to veto ENDA ... in any form if it passes Congress,'" he said.

He said it is a dangerous precedent to install in federal law "rights" based on changeable homosexual/bisexual behavior....

Anglicans Rocked By Sex-Scandal & Cover-Up, Pedophile Priests Go Unchecked

THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT: I told you this would come. Now here it is. The sex-abuse and cover-up scandal has hit the Protestant world. It starts in the Anglican Communion (as if circumstance weren't bad enough there already). I'm certain it will soon move its way through other denominations. Now let's see how much play this gets in the media. If the mainstream news doesn't give this just as much attention as it did the Catholic Church scandal, then we'll know just how anti-Catholic the mainstream media is...
(Telegraph) - Child abuse has gone unchecked in the Church of England for decades amid a cover up by bishops, secret papers have revealed.

Information that could have prevented abuse has been "lost or damaged", concerns about individuals have been ignored and allegations have not been recorded. It means that the Church has no idea how many paedophiles are in its midst.

Lawyers warned last night that the Church faces a crisis as catastrophic as the one that engulfed the Roman Catholic Church and cost it millions of pounds in damages.

Richard Scorer, a solicitor who has specialised in child abuse cases, said that the Church of England's mistakes amounted to "an appalling, shocking level of negligence" that is likely to leave it open to claims from victims who have been too afraid to speak out in the past. The Church is to launch an urgent investigation on an unprecedented scale.

It will look at the records of thousands of clergy – including those who have retired – church employees, lay workers and volunteers dating back decades in an attempt to expose those who have previously escaped prosecution and identify those who pose "current risks".

Dioceses will appoint independent reviewers with access to all of their personnel files. These are due to be examined over an 18-month period.

However, the internal Church documents – leaked to The Sunday Telegraph – show that even if churchwardens, who are lay officials, are found to have previous allegations against them, the Church has no power to suspend them...

Pope Revives Gregorian Chant

(Chiesa.com) - Pope Ratzinger seems to be stepping up the tempo. The curia will have a new office with authority in the field of sacred music. And the choir of the Sistine Chapel is getting a new director

In the span of just a few days, a series of events have unfolded at the Vatican which, taken all together, foretell new provisions – at the pope's behest – to foster the rebirth of great sacred music.

The first of these events took place on Monday, October 8. On that morning, Benedict XVI held an audience with the "chapter" of Saint Peter's basilica – meaning the bishops and priests who, together with the archpriest of the basilica, Angelo Comastri, celebrate Mass and solemn Vespers each Sunday in the most famous church in the Christian world...

...The second event took place on Wednesday, October 10, again in Saint Peter's Basilica. The orchestra and choir of Humboldt Universität in Berlin, conducted by Constantin Alex, performed the Mass "Tu es Petrus," composed in honor of Joseph Ratzinger's eightieth birthday by the German musician Wolfgang Seifein, who was present at the organ...

...The third event is Benedict XVI's visit to the Pontifical Institute of Sacred Music, on the morning of Saturday, October 13.

To the professors and students of this institute – which is the liturgical-musical "conservatory" of the Holy See, the one that trains Church musicians from all over the world – the pope cited Vatican Council II, where it says that "as sacred song united to the words, it forms a necessary or integral part of the solemn liturgy" (Sancrosanctum Concilium, 112).

He also confirmed that "three characteristics distinguish sacred liturgical music: sanctity, true art, and universality, meaning its ability to be used regardless of the nature or nationality of the assembly."

And he continued:

"Precisely in view of this, ecclesiastical authorities must devote themselves to guiding wisely the development of such a demanding genre of music, not by sealing off its repository, but by seeking to insert into the heritage of the past the legitimate additions of the present, in order to arrive at a synthesis worthy of the high mission reserved to it in the divine service. I am certain that the Pontifical Institute of Sacred Music, in harmonious agreement with the congregation for divine worship, will not fail to offer its contribution for an 'updating', adapted to our time, of the abundant and valuable traditions found in sacred music."

This expectation could soon be followed by the institution, in the Roman curia, of an office endowed with authority in the area of sacred music. It is already known that, as a cardinal, Ratzinger maintained that the institution of such an office was necessary...

...The fourth event, which came shortly before the first three, was the replacement, on October 1, of the director of pontifical liturgical celebrations.

To replace Piero Marini – who will go to preside over the pontifical committee for international Eucharistic congresses – the call went out to Genoa, to Guido Marini, who's close to his predecessor in name, but to pope Ratzinger in substance...

...One final event must be added to the events already mentioned, one that provides background for all the others. It is the promulgation of the motu proprio "Summorum Pontificum," by which Benedict XVI liberalized the ancient rite of the Mass.

It is increasingly evident that with this decision, pope Ratzinger wanted to make it possible for the modern liturgies to regain the richness of the ancient rite that they are in danger of losing: a richness of theology, textual form, and music....

Anti-Gay Archbishop To Become New Cardinal

THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT: Sounds like my kind of guy. With any luck, maybe he'll be the next pope.
(Telegraph) - The Pope announced the names of 23 new cardinals yesterday, including the controversial leader of the Italian Church who recently compared homosexuality to paedophilia and incest.

Archbishop Angelo Bagnasco of Genoa will be made a cardinal on Nov 24, at the next consistory. Mgr Bagnasco has been under armed guard since he made a speech in April which claimed that permitting gay marriages was merely the beginning of a slippery slope. "Why then say 'no' to incest? Why say 'no' to the paedophile party in Holland?" he asked.

Eighteen of the new cardinals, including Mgr Bagnasco, will be under 80 and therefore eligible to vote in the next Papal election. After the consistory there will be a total of 202 members of the college, including 121 cardinal-electors. Dr Sean Brady, the head of the Catholic Church in Ireland, will become the country's third cardinal...

California Public School Exodus Underway

THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT: There is no doubt in my mind, that sending your child to a California Public School, having full knowledge of the new laws in place, is nothing short of child abuse. Anyone care to challenge me on that?...
(WorldNetDaily.com) -- A call is being issued to Christians who have been engaged in the culture wars in California's schools to abandon the system, after Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger signed into law a ban on "discriminatory bias" against homosexuals and others with alternative sexual lifestyles.

"We're calling upon every California parent to pull their child out of California's public school system," Randy Thomasson, president of Campaign for Children and Families, told WND.

"The so-called 'public schools' are no longer a safe emotional environment for children. Under the new law, schoolchildren as young as kindergarten will be sexually indoctrinated and introduced to homosexuality, bisexuality, and transsexuality, over the protests of parents, teachers and even school districts," he said.

The law at issue went through the California legislature as SB 777, and now bans in school texts and activities any discriminatory bias against those who have chosen alternative sexual lifestyles, Meredith Turney, legislative liaison for Capitol Resource Institute, said.

There are no similar protections for students with traditional or conservative lifestyles and beliefs, however. Offenders will face the wrath of the state Department of Education, up to and including lawsuits.

"SB 777 will result in reverse discrimination against students with religious and traditional family values. These students have lost their voice as the direct result of Gov. Schwarzenegger's unbelievable decision. The terms 'mom and dad' or 'husband and wife' could promote discrimination against homosexuals if a same-sex couple is not also featured....

California Shocker! Government Turns Schools Into Homosexual Indoctrination Centers

THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT: If you had any doubts about California being controlled by the homosexual fascists, doubt no more. California has banned all reference to traditional family in public schools, and has ordered that boys be allowed to use girls restrooms, and vice versa. California is a microcosm of the rest of the country. What happens in California, will soon happen in America within about 20-30 years....
"Mom and Dad" as well as "husband and wife" have been banned from California schools under a bill signed by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, who with his signature also ordered public schools to allow boys to use girls restrooms and locker rooms, and vice versa, if they choose.

"We are shocked and appalled that the governor has blatantly attacked traditional family values in California," said Karen England, executive director of Capitol Resource Institute.

"With this decision, Gov. Schwarzenegger has told parents that their values are irrelevant. Many parents will have no choice but to pull their children out of the public schools that have now become sexualized indoctrination centers."

"Arnold Schwarzenegger has delivered young children into the hands of those who will introduce them to alternative sexual lifestyles," said Randy Thomasson, president of Campaign for Children and Families, which worked to defeat the plans. "This means children as young as five years old will be mentally molested in school classrooms.

"Shame on Schwarzenegger and the Democrat politicians for ensuring that every California school becomes a homosexual-bisexual-transsexual indoctrination center," he said...

Sacrilege A Regular Occurrence In Archdiocese Of San Francisco

(RCB) -- Archbishop Niederauer is a progressive, "gay-friendly", Catholic bishop who has endorsed Brokeback Mountain, is soft on homosexual adoption, defended a priest who preyed on teenaged boys, has been slippery about Nancy Pelosi's pro-abortion stance, and has refused to deny Ms. Pelosi Holy Communion....

THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT: When does this end? Where does the Church draw the line? How long will the Vatican tolerate bishops such as these?

Notice how the parishioners in the above video seem to have no problem with these mockers of the holy sacrament? Which came first, the chicken or the egg? The archbishop seems to have no problem with them receiving communion, nor does the congregation. Was it the lax attitude of the laity that prompted the archbishop's apathy, or vice versa?

Two lessons can be gleaned from the above video. The first lesson is that the Archdiocese of San Francisco is completely lost. Like Abraham's nephew, Lot, who lived in Sodom, it would appear that Catholics in that city have been totally desensitized to the sin all around them. They have absolutely no guidance from their archbishop, and they no longer know their right hand from their left. The second lesson is that this is eventually what happens to any diocese that allows the prevailing trends of the surrounding culture to influence its public worship.

Lex orandi, lex credendi

Which is a Latin phrase meaning "the law of prayer is the law of belief." In other words, the way we pray and worship reflects how we truly believe and our prevailing attitudes. Think of it as a Catholic way of saying "our actions speak louder than words."

We can look at the Archdiocese of San Francisco with distain if we want to, and we would be right in doing so, but are we not all on the same path toward the same kind of sacrilege? Look at how the prevailing trends in our culture influence mass in our own dioceses. How many women keep the Biblical custom of veiling their hair in your parish? How many people show up to mass half way through and then leave before the dismissal? How many young men and women wear provocative and/or inappropriate clothing during mass? How many people show up for confession before mass? Does your priest withhold communion from people in known sin who obstinately refuse to repent? What about public advocates of abortion and gay marriage? Does your priest withhold communion from those people, or does he coddle them in their sin, fearing to even speak out against it?

The point I'm making is that it's a slippery slope from where we are, to the Archdiocese of San Francisco. Whenever we let the prevailing trends of our popular culture creep into our worship, we're setting ourselves up for a fall. I would dare say Catholic diocese all over the English-speaking world have done this excessively, and are steadily on their way toward the sacrilege now displaying itself without shame in the Archdiocese of San Francisco.

Pope Says Democracy Sometimes Wrong - Natural Law Is Solution To Society's Problems

(CNA).- This morning Pope Benedict XVI spoke with great force about how the study of natural law guarantees freedom and guards the dignity of all people. He also pointed out that contrary to the modern perception, majorities are not always right, but rather, that the natural law should prevail over pluralities as the measure of what is best for the common good.

Speaking to Cardinal William Levada and the rest of the members of the International Theological Commission, who just completed their annual meeting, Benedict XVI pointed out the importance of their study of the natural law.

The doctrine on natural law "achieves two essential aims: it makes it clear that the ethical content of the Christian faith is not an imposition dictated from outside man's conscience, but has its basis in human nature itself; and on the other hand, by starting from the basis of natural law… it lays the foundations for dialogue with all men and women of good will, and with civil society more generally."

Vatican Official Calls Bishops Who Block Latin Mass "Instruments Of The Devil"

THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT: His Excellency Most Rev. Malcolm Ranjith, Secretary of the Congregation for Divine Worship and Discipline of the Sacraments, had the following to say about those priests and bishops who would stall, drag their feet, or otherwise "reinterpret" the implementation of the pope's motu proprio liberalizing use of the traditional Latin mass...
The motu proprio Summorum Pontificum on the Latin Liturgy of July 7th 2007 is the fruit of a deep reflection by our Pope on the mission of the Church. It is not up to us, who wear ecclesiastical purple and red, to draw this into question, to be disobedient and make the motu proprio void by our own little, tittle rules. Even not if they were made by a bishops conference. Even bishops do not have this right. What the Holy Fathers says, has to be obeyed in the Church. If we do not follow this principle, we will allow ourselves to be used as instruments of the devil, and nobody else. This will lead to discord in the Church, and slows down her mission. We do not have the time to waste on this. Else we behave like emperor Nero, fiddling on his violin while Rome was burning. The churches are emptying, there are no vocations, the seminaries are empty. Priests become older and older, and young priests are scarce.

Karl Keating On Latin Mass - "Many People Want The Pope To Fail"

From Karl Keating...
Dear Friend of Catholic Answers,

This summer Pope Benedict released a document allowing greater use of the old Latin Mass, but his intention was to improve the celebration of all Masses by encouraging a greater sense of the sacred. Now his document has taken effect, but there is still a big problem.

Many People Want the Pope to Fail!

Many so-called “liberal” Catholics have a virtual hatred for the Tridentine Mass—mainly because, as an Associated Press article stated . . .

“Liberal Catholics say the Pope’s decision shows that the Second Vatican Council was not the ‘break from the past’ that some view it as being.”

Well, let’s just set the record straight, shall we?

Vatican II was most certainly not the “break from the past” that some view it as being. The fact is, Vatican II did not repudiate sacred Tradition. It did not change, liberalize, or modernize Catholic doctrine. It merely created a new way of presenting Catholic truth to the world and how the Church relates to the world. Period.

Pope Benedict's goal is to revive the proper celebration of the Eucharist which, as he points out, is “at the root of every form of holiness” and “the source and summit of the Church’s life.”...

No Good Catholic Can Support Rudy Giuliani

THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT: The following article pertains both to practicing Catholics and Evangelicals, but as far as Catholics are concerned, Rudy Giuliani is a fellow Catholic who makes a mockery of the faith. It is a mortal sin to support abortion in any way, and yet Giuliani (like John Kerry and Ted Kennedy) promotes the public HERESY that abortion is permissible in the political realm, even though it is immoral in the realm of religion and private life. We've all heard the sad old adage more than once; "I'm personally against abortion, but...." Sorry, this is a cop out, and if it comes from a Catholic, it's also heresy! Any Catholic who supports Rudy Giuliani is supporting heresy -- plain and simple.
(NewsMax) -- GOP presidential hopeful Rudy Giuliani is virtually “indistinguishable” from Hillary Clinton on core social issues, according to Tony Perkins, head of the influential conservative Family Research Council.

Speaking with NewsMax in a media conference call on Wednesday, Perkins said that the former New York City mayor simply cannot bring together the “three key elements” of the Republican Party — social conservatism, fiscal conservatism, and a strong national defense.

“I don’t envision the majority of social conservatives moving toward a pro-abortion candidate,” Perkins said. “This issue runs strong. Singing the ABC song — 'anybody but Clinton' — will not be enough.”

Perkins’ group is a co-sponsor of Washington Briefing 2007: Values Voter Summit, a gathering later this month of pro-family activists in the nation’s capital, at which at least eight of the Republican presidential candidates, including Giuliani, will appear.

“What I hear is people are frustrated because there is very little difference between the Republican and Democratic parties,” he said. “My experience is you don’t beat a liberal with a moderate. You have a lack of enthusiasm. People will not get excited by Giuliani.”...

Pope Criticizes Iran, Calls For Religious Freedom In Islam

Pope attacks Iran at World Jewish Congress

The Pope hit out at Iran as he pledged to help world Jewish leaders in their fight against anti-Semitism.

Pope Benedict XVI told leaders of the World Jewish Congress that Iran was “an issue of big concern” to him.

At a meeting at the Vatican, the Pope spoke of his concern about rising anti-Semitism and described how he wanted to use educational tools to counter the hatred of the Iranian leadership towards the Jewish people and Israel.

Maram Stern, secretary general of the World Jewish Congress, said after the audience: “We thanked the Holy Father for everything he did for the Jewish people, and more importantly what he will do.”

Speaking to journalists in Rome, he said the Pope had “recognised the question of Iran as an issue of big concern for him.”

Members of the congress discussed the critical problem of “resurgent anti-Semitism” in Europe. Britain itself has seen a marked rise in anti-Semitism, linked to increasing anti-Zionism and to events in the Middle East...

Vatican urges Muslim respect for all faiths

Muslims must respect people of all faiths and not exclude them on the grounds of religion, race or any other personal characteristic, a senior Vatican official said this week. In a message to celebrate Eid al-Fitr, the festival marking the end of Ramadan, the Pope's interfaith expert has called for a "culture of peace and solidarity" between different religious communities and to spread a teaching "which honours all human creatures".

Jean-Louis Cardinal Tauran, the newly-appointed president of the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue, the Vatican's main liaison agency with the Muslim world, has previously expressed concern about the treatment of Christians in Muslim-majority countries...

Bush Reveals His Universalist Beliefs

(WorldNetDaily.com) -- President George Bush has repeated his belief all religions, "whether they be Muslim, Christian, or any other religion, prays to the same God" – an assertion that caused outrage among evangelical leaders when he said it in November 2003.

Bush made the statement Friday in an interview with Al Arabiya reporter Elie Nakouzi.

Al Arabiya is Al Jazeerah's top competitor in the Mideast.

As the president and Nakouzi walked from the Oval Office to the Map Room in the White House residence, Nazouki asked, "But I want to tell you – and I hope this doesn't bother you at all – that in the Islamic world they think that President Bush is an enemy of Islam – that he wants to destroy their religion, what they believe in. Is that in any way true, Mr. President?"

"No, it's not," said Bush. "I've heard that, and it just shows [sic] to show a couple of things: One, that the radicals have done a good job of propagandizing. In other words, they've spread the word that this really isn't peaceful people versus radical people or terrorists, this is really about the America not liking Islam.

"Well, first of all, I believe in an Almighty God, and I believe that all the world, whether they be Muslim, Christian, or any other religion, prays to the same God. That's what I believe. I believe that Islam is a great religion that preaches peace. And I believe people who murder the innocent to achieve political objectives aren't religious people, whether they be a Christian who does that – we had a person blow up our – blow up a federal building in Oklahoma City who professed to be a Christian, but that's not a Christian act to kill innocent people.

"And I just simply don't subscribe to the idea that murdering innocent men, women and children – particularly Muslim men, women and children in the Middle East – is an act of somebody who is a religious person....

THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT: For the record, the Oklahoma City bomber, Timothy McVeigh, was a self professed agnostic -- not a Christian. McVeigh claimed that he abandoned his Christianity a long time before he committed his act of terrorism (read biography here). So I don't agree with the president's illustration comparing Islamic terrorists with Timothy McVeigh as a "Christian terrorist."

The above story is enlightening though. Apparently, the president has bought into the same heresy that a lot of Americans have bought into. It's the heresy of universalism, which is the idea that all religions ultimately lead to the same God. Bush may be a Methodist by personal affiliation, and I don't doubt the sincerity of his religious tradition, however last time I checked, Methodist Christianity does not teach universalism.

Not all religions are the same, nor do they all lead to the same God. We could argue that Muslims do pray to the same Creator God Christians do, but if we make that argument, than we must simultaneously assert that the Islamic understanding of our God is fundamentally flawed. If Christians and Muslims do pray to the same God, than we as Christians would have to admit that the Muslim understanding of God is a radical departure from our own. We can't both be right.

Now when it comes to religions such as Hinduism, and Shintoism, I honestly don't see how it is even possible to think that they pray to the same God as Christians, since Hindus and Shintos are polytheists and pray to multiple gods. Look, the president has a right to believe whatever he wants. It's still a free country. But when it comes to stuff like this, I think he would be much better off sticking to politics, and leaving the theology to theologians.

Catholics Should Boycott Miller Brewing

THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT: The Catholic League has called for a boycott of Miller Brewing due to it's sponsorship of an anti-Christian homosexual rally in San Francisco. Initially the company balked at the boycott, but after images of the rally were sent to Catholics nationwide, the company is reviewing it's marketing policies.

Below is a link to images of the kind of stuff Miller Brewing apparently likes to support. Warning! They are not appropriate for children, or even adults with weak stomachs. Personally, I couldn't even get through the first page. I provide the link here only for those who won't believe it unless they see it for themselves...

Warning! Perverted Link Here
(The Catholic League) -- Catholic League president Bill Donohue commented today on the latest developments regarding the league’s boycott of Miller Brewing:

“Today’s San Francisco Chronicle reports that at yesterday’s Folsom Street Fair, ‘couples led each other up and down the street with dog collars and leashes, men in thong underwear played Twister….’ There was also a man who was flogged to such an extent that ‘red lash marks covered his back.’ Other gay men decided to ‘walk around naked’ in front of women and children. In addition to the homosexuals who dressed as nuns—ridiculing the women who have given selflessly of their lives in service to the dispossessed—there was a female stripper who was hoisted in a cage over a Roman Catholic church (on a Sunday when Masses were being said). The lead sponsor for the incredible spectacle is the Miller Brewing Company.

“The response from Miller has been encouraging, though incomplete. The Milwaukee brewer issued a news release on September 26 saying it took exception to the use of its logo on an offensive poster mocking the Last Supper. Today, it extended its original statement by apologizing for the misuse of its logo, ‘particularly [to] members of the Christian community who have contacted us to express their concern.’ It also said, ‘We are conducting an immediate audit of our procedures for approving local marketing and sales sponsorships to ensure that this does not happen again.’

“We called Miller today asking for clarification of this statement, and we are pleased to note that a full-scale review of all its promotional policies is underway. It is not certain at this time whether Miller plans to sponsor events like the Folsom Street Fair in the future. Accordingly, while we are not calling off the boycott, we are tabling a serious course of action that we were going to announce today. We expect that Miller will resolve this issue before too long.”

Clinton & Giuliani Shun Catholic Vote

THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT: So far neither the Democratic nor Republican frontrunners for the 2008 presidential election are qualified to receive a single vote from a practicing Catholic. Both Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton and Republican frontrunner Rudy Giuliani are open supporters of abortion and gay marriage. Now Hillary Clinton has come out and promised that if elected president, she will fund scientific experimentation on human embryos (pre-born babies).

As it stands right now, a practicing Catholic cannot vote for either of the two major frontrunners without putting himself in mortal sin. If these two frontrunners become the Democratic and Republican nominees, than for the first time in recent memory, a practicing Catholic will not be able to vote for either of the two major candidates for president in the 2008 election. Which leaves practicing Catholics with no choice but to look for a third-party candidate to support.

Evangelical Protestants are now faced with the same dilemma, and their leaders have recently met in Utah to discus their options. According to sources present at the meeting, the animosity toward the two main parties was so thick "you could cut it with a knife." On the table was the realistic possibility of supporting a third-party candidate for president in 2008....
(The Christian Post) -- Democratic presidential candidate Hilary Clinton said Thursday that if elected she would sign executive order reversing President Bush's restrictions on federal funding for embryonic stem cell research.

“I will lift the current ban on ethical stem cell research,” pledged the New York senator to the crowd at the Carnegie Institution for Science in Washington.

Although Bush did not ban stem cell research, per se, the president had issued an executive order in August 2001 to limit federal funding for research involving human embryonic stems cells to cell lines already in existence at the time....

(AP) -- Republican Rudy Giuliani on Thursday brushed aside criticism from Roman Catholic Archbishop Raymond Burke who said he would deny Holy Communion to Giuliani and any other presidential candidate who supports abortion rights.

"I'm not running for religious office," Giuliani told reporters during a brief appearance at a coffee bar in a St. Louis suburb.

"I'm not going to debate the opinion of an archbishop of the Catholic Church or an official of the Protestant Church or a rabbi," Giuliani said. "That's an interpretation of religion. They're entitled to their interpretation of religion."

On Wednesday, Burke, the archbishop of St. Louis, was asked if he would deny Communion to Giuliani or any other presidential candidate who favors abortion rights.

"If any politician approached me and he'd been admonished not to present himself, I'd not give it," Burke told The Associated Press. "To me, you have to be certain a person realizes he is persisting in a serious public sin."...

Leftist Liberals Ally With Muslim Terrorists

Graffiti speaking out against Roman Catholic head Pope Benedict, including one reading "Death to Ratzinger", has been found on walls in Naples ahead of a scheduled visit there by the Pontiff later this month.

A source in Italy's anti-terrorist police said they suspected the graffiti was the work of leftist and anarchist groups, but investigations were still ongoing....

Communion Will Be Denied To Rudy Giuliani

ST. LOUIS (AP) — Roman Catholic Archbishop Raymond Burke, who made headlines last presidential season by saying he'd refuse Holy Communion to John Kerry, has his eye on Rudy Giuliani this year. Giuliani's response: "Archbishops have a right to their opinion."

Burke, the Archbishop of St. Louis, was asked by The St. Louis Post-Dispatch if he would deny Communion to Giuliani if the former New York mayor approached him for the sacrament.

"If the question is about a Catholic who is publicly espousing positions contrary to the moral law, and I know that person knows it, yes I would," the paper quoted the archbishop as responding.

Burke has said of Giuliani: "I can't imagine that as a Catholic he doesn't know that his stance on the protection of human life is wrong. If someone is publicly sinning, they should not approach to receive Holy Communion."

Asked about it Wednesday while campaigning in New Hampshire, Giuliani said:

"Archbishops have a right to their opinion, you know. There's freedom of religion in this country. There's no established religion, and archbishops have a right to their opinion. Everybody has a right to their opinion."...

Liberal Catholics Show Their True Colors Again

THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT: Below we have an example of Liberalism in its pristine glory. You see, Liberals typically think the world owes them. That's why they're Liberals. In this case, we see Liberal Catholics who think the Church owes them, and they'll go to any extreme to make that point. This event happened in Nicaragua, but it's not isolated to the third world. Here in the United States, members of the "rainbow sash" group (an openly homosexual lobby) frequently disrupt mass by presenting themselves for communion knowing full well they will be denied, and sometimes making a scene over it.

Personally, I think such stories (as the one below), are instructive because they demonstrate who Liberals really are, and how conceited they can become. To think, that one person (or a small group of people) would be so snobishly conceited as to disrupt an entire religious service, to the point of shutting it down, just so they can flaunt their own personal views over the prayers and meditations of those who are trying to worship in peace...
(CNA).- Just yesterday, feminists and pro-abortion supporters interrupted Mass at the Cathedral of Managua in Nicaragua and attempted to receive Holy Communion. When they were refused, according to church law, they reacted violently and forced the celebrant to end the Mass.

The decision by the celebrant, Father Bismark Conde, to deny them Communion bothered the women, some of whom are members of “Catholics for a Free Choice.” They remained in the church and demanded to receive the Eucharist....

It's Over! ECUSA Crumbles - New Anglican Church Is Born

THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT: It's over! The ECUSA has crumbled, and conservative Episcopal bishops in the USA are forming a new Anglican Church to replace the old one....
(Christian Post): Anglican bishops discontent with The Episcopal Church announced Friday they have taken the first step in forming a "separate ecclesiastical structure" in North America in an attempt to remain faithful to the global Anglican Communion.

Bishops representing more than 600 orthodox Anglican congregations that have either split or threatened to break from The Episcopal Church – the U.S. arm of Anglicanism – convened in Pittsburgh, Pa., to up the level of their Common Cause Partnership and lay out the path ahead for a separate Anglican body that would accommodate conservatives.

The four-day meeting concluded Friday.

The Common Cause Partners believe The Episcopal Church has "failed" the communion and rejected "obvious scriptural teaching" with their pro-gay agenda. The U.S. church body had widened rifts when it consecrated the first openly gay bishop in 2003.

With little hope that The Episcopal Church will go backward on its decision and get back in line with the global Anglican family, Bishop Robert Duncan, convener of the Common Cause Council, says there is no room in the U.S. body for those who want to stay faithful to the communion and biblical Christianity....
