It's official. The Catholic Knight is retired.  I'm hanging up the helmet and passing the torch. There will be no more articles, no more commentaries, no more calls to action. THIS BLOG IS CLOSED. I've spent a very long time thinking about this, I believe the time has come, and is a bit overdue.  I want to thank my readers for everything, but most especially for your encouragement and your willingness to go out there and fight the good fight. So, that being the case, I've spend the last several weeks looking for bloggers who are fairly active, and best represent something akin to the way I think and what I believe.  I recommend the following blogs for my readers to bookmark and check on regularly. Pick one as your favourite, or pick them all. They are all great..... In His Majesty's Service, THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT

OFFICIAL: Pro-Choice = No Communion!

THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT: Attention all Cafeteria Catholics! The head of the Vatican "supreme court" has spoken. If you receive communion while supporting "abortion-rights," you are in mortal sin.  Let me reiterate: so-called "pro-choice" Catholics may not receive communion, and if they do, it is  in violation of canon law, they are in mortal sin, and they endanger their souls of eternal hellfire.  Furthermore, Eucharistic ministers may soon be REQUIRED to deny communion to any known "pro-choice" Catholic who presents himself/herself in the communion line.  At least that's the word of the Vatican's top authority on the matter...
(CNA).- The prefect of the Apostolic Signature, Archbishop Raymond Burke, said this week that Catholics, especially politicians who publically defend abortion, should not receive Communion, and that ministers of Communion should be responsibly charitable in denying it to them if they ask for it, “until they have reformed their lives.”

So that being said, what's a Cafeteria Catholic to do? Well, Cafeteria Catholics (which is defined as Catholics who don't take the Church seriously on matters of social and moral teaching), are left now with only two reasonable and honest possibilities, because if they continue being "pro-choice" and continue to receive communion in mortal sin, their lives are a charade - a complete lie. So the only two honest and reasonable solutions are as follows...
  1. Repent: support the church's pro-life teachings and be good Catholics
  2. Leave: acknowledge that they are not really Roman Catholics at heart, and attend a different church entirely
For Cafeteria Catholics who choose option #1, 'The Catholic Knight' congratulates you and welcomes you back into the community of faithful and practicing Catholics. You may want to take some time to review all of the Church's social teachings and adjust your beliefs and lifestyle accordingly. For Cafeteria Catholics who choose option #2, 'The Catholic Knight' would like to suggest you consider the U.S. Episcopal Church (ECUSA), or the Anglican Church of Canada (ACC) as possible alternatives. Within these churches you will find a quasi-catholic environment, with liturgy and ceremony that is virtually identical to Catholicism. However, you will also find a perfectly liberal (progressive) environment that welcomes "pro-choice" advocates, along with female clergy and affirmation of homosexual couples.
