(AP) - Catholic nuns are urging Congress to pass President Barack Obama's health care plan, in an unusual public break with bishops who say it would subsidize abortion.THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT: Now the rebels are coming out of the woodwork as everybody's true colors are beginning to show. The US Catholic Church is already in schism. It just hasn't been formalized yet. Some 60 leaders of religious orders representing 59,000 Catholic nuns Wednesday sent lawmakers a letter urging them to pass the Senate health care bill. It contains restrictions on abortion funding that the bishops say don't go far enough.
The letter says that "despite false claims to the contrary, the Senate bill will not provide taxpayer funding for elective abortions." The letter says the legislation also will help support pregnant women and "this is the real pro-life stance."
UPDATE: 3/18/2010
Good News! It appears this organization that is claiming to represent 60,000 nuns has spoke out of turn, misrepresented itself, and at best only represents one-tenth that number, if even that. Religious orders are now releasing press statements affirming the US Bishop's recent stand against the legislation. It it the opinion of 'The Catholic Knight' that this liberal organization that are urging Congress to pass "Obamacare" is being made to appear as if they represent tens of thousands of nuns, but in reality they probably only represent a few hundred.

Malachi Martin once observed that, at his Crucifixion, the only ones standing by Him were women (and St John). TOday it is the religous women who have been the greatest betrayers of Christ and the church.Nuns are among the most liberal, vocal and radical dissenters. The very oppostion to the "visitation" shows that they are for the most part, apostate. But no need to worry Mr Knight: in a few years most of these orders will be gone as their decline in vocations and advancing age will guarantee their extinction. Meantime, they are being replaced by women with true Catholic principles and dedicated to tradtion. No "pants suits" and blue hair for the NEXT generation of sisters. Pete Frey
Can you say, "Alta Vendita!"

"A recent letter from Network, a social justice lobby of sisters, grossly overstated whom they represent in a letter to Congress that was also released to media," she writes. "Network’s letter, about health care reform, was signed by a few dozen people, and despite what Network said, they do not come anywhere near representing 59,000 American sisters...In fact, there are only 59,000 women in Catholic religious orders in the United States, meaning the Network letter could never have represented all, or even most, of them."

In Mary's image: nevertheless a great number of nuns, and many religous orders are stocked with feminist dissenters strongly in favor of women's ordination. Just look at the resistance to the apostolic vistation---- and what speaks volumes is the very NEED for it, as seen by Rome. Hey Mr Knight, do you think maybe these nuns could join the shrinking Anglican "church"? Pete Frey
Faithful nuns back US bishops in opposing Senate health care bill
March 19, 2010
The Council of Major Superiors of Women Religious (CMSWR) issued a statement on March 18 opposing Senate health care legislation.
“In a March 15th statement, Cardinal Francis George, OMI, of Chicago, president of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, spoke on behalf of the United States bishops in opposition to the Senate’s version of the health care legislation under consideration because of its expansion of abortion funding and its lack of adequate provision for conscience protection,” the nuns’ statement noted. “Recent statements from groups like Network, the Catholic Health Association and the Leadership Conference of Women Religious (LCWR) directly oppose the Catholic Church’s position on critical issues of health care reform.”
Unlike the Leadership Conference of Women Religious, the Council of Major Superiors of Women Religious is known for its fidelity to the Church’s Magisterium.
“Protection of life and freedom of conscience are central to morally responsible judgment,” the CMSWR statement concluded. “We join the bishops in seeking ethically sound legislation.”
spoke too soon, Mr Knight. NOT ALL nuns are like the ones we cited. Due apologies to the TRULY good and holy sisters still among us. Pete Frey
Just as soon as the dust settles from this damnable healthcare fiasco, I am going to start work on organizing a Catholic Teaparty here in my diocese. I have had enough. I've had enough false priests and nuns polluting my beloved faith. I will not stand for anymore. I am so proud of the sisters who almost immediately sent out rebuttals to those false nuns. Now, if we can just get the mainstream media to listen...
The press claimed the nuns represented 69000. The nuns only claimed to represent their organizations which was more than hundreds.
Its just as wrong to show that all nuns agree with the USCCB as it is that all bishops agree with it.
To Life Matters, you may have read this already, but if not read before going into battle with the two-faced liberal priests and man-hating, feminist nuns masquerading as Catholics. It may get ugly:
