The Coming American War Against The Catholic Church

(CNA) -- An “anti-Catholic storm” is looming in the United States because of the Church’s stance against “postmodern ideologies” and because well-funded Catholic supporters of President Obama provide cover for Catholic politicians who dissent from Church teaching, says Catholic analyst Deal Hudson.

Hudson, who has served as an advisor to Republican leaders on Catholic issues, wrote at InsideCatholic.com that a “relentless barrage” of reporting in the mainstream media is intended to force changes demanded by dissenting Catholic groups.

Revelations of clerical sexual abuse in Europe have provided “Catholic bashers” the opportunity to attack Church teachings about abortion and same-sex “marriage,” he added. A call to arrest Pope Benedict XVI in the United Kingdom should have been regarded as “a crank call” but has led to speculation about whether the papal trip to Britain should be canceled.

While Iraqi Christians are being expelled from their homelands, this only receives “occasional mention” in the New York Times, whose reporters “dig through Vatican documents” hoping to link the Pope with clerical sexual abuse, Hudson wrote.

“The use of courts and commissions to harass and threaten Catholics and other Christians has already been auditioned in Canada,” noted Hudson. “And the expansion of hate-speech laws signed by President Barack Obama last October sets the stage for similar tussles here when a minister, priest, or voluble layperson too heatedly denounces homosexual sex.”

While the Church is not the only institution insisting on universal moral standards, it is the largest and therefore stands in the way of “postmodern ideologies achieving complete dominance in the West,” he said. Those who hold the “postmodern” belief that all truth is power “don't hesitate to use the power of the media, government, and the courts to attack any institution thwarting their influence.”

According to Hudson, political donors have combined resources with labor unions, which once had a “vital” relationship with the Church, to support “faux Catholic groups that provide cover for politicians who don’t vote Catholic.” He suggested that it is these groups’ fault that the majority of candidates who oppose abortion and same-sex marriage are Republican....

THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT: The "Vatican-America War" is just around the corner. Oh, no need to worry. You won't see any bombing campaigns or invasion forces. No. This is going to be a war of words, and the battle ground is the U.S. Catholic Church. It's a battle no U.S. priest or bishop wants to see. It's a conflict the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) has been trying to avoid for decades, even to the point of playing footsies with anti-Catholic organizations through the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD). Their strategy hasn't worked. In fact, it's failed miserably, and has only managed to put the U.S. Catholic Church in a much weaker position for the battle ahead.

Over the last few decades the Democratic Party has managed to perfect the art of pitting Catholics against each other, and no politician has been more adept at this than President Barrack Hussein Obama. As I wrote in a previous article I succinctly pointed out Barrack Obama's strategy for cracking the Catholic Church in two - a schism like nothing ever seen before on the North American continent. (I strongly recommend you read the article.) This is, I asserted, part of his overall reelection strategy for 2012. It just might work. Granted, Obama is down in the polls today, and it looks like the Democrats will lose big in the congressional election this November, but don't expect Obama to just roll over and take it. He's going to rally in 2011, spring some traps he's laid the groundwork for in 2009 and 2010, and roll into campaign mode like a locomotive in 2012. I know that may seem hard for people to see today, but mark my words, by 2012 you will know what I'm talking about.

In the end this is what it's going to come down to. Catholic Americans will be forced to choose between the president and the pope, between Washington DC and the Vatican. I realize this may seem inconceivable at the time I write this, but the day is coming very VERY soon. The mainstream news media, along with gay-rights groups, other lobbyists, labor unions, universities and public education will team up to project an image of "American Catholicism" that is pro-choice, pro-gay and pro-Obama!

On the flip side is the pope. He will probably involve himself in American politics only insofar as encouraging Catholics to vote according to the teachings of the Church. This of course is diametrically opposed to everything the new "American Catholicism" image stands for as projected by the Obama-Democratic campaign machine. Catholic Americans will be forced to choose between Obama and the pope, and when that day comes, it is very reasonable to assume that as many as 50% of U.S. Catholics will choose Obama over the pope. When they do, the schism will be complete in everything but formality, and at least half of American Catholics will have proved they have no intention of ever following the pope or the moral tenets of the Catholic faith. Once Obama has effectively reduced the influence of the U.S. Catholic Church by half, the long-term campaign will begin to put the final nails in the coffin of U.S. Catholicism. This will come in the form of outright persecution against faithful Catholics, by passing so-called "civil rights" legislation that forces Catholic churches to hire openly practicing homosexuals. Any attempt to resist will be illegal, and immediately turn law enforcement against those Catholics who are faithful to the pope and the faith. The Vatican-American War will have begun!

On the bright side, the there will be less confusion in the Church, less scandal, less faux Catholics - as the term "Catholic" becomes synonymous with horrid anti-gay, anti-choice, anti-all-that-is-good while the best hearts and minds continue to emanate. Folks like Chris Mathews and the young Kennedy's will be too ashamed to refer to themselves as Catholic - and the purification will begin.

Redemptive suffering is good. We have sinned in our denial of much liberal heresy and lack of catechesis for decades and seminarian mis-education.

We'll have the opportunity to become a large part of this BLESSED country's people/judges either making a mockery of the Bill of Rights or to lead the world yet again from the culture of death to lover, serve, and honor Providence - for Him, with Him, if He wills it.

Mr Knight, the majority of catholics dont really care what the church teaches. This has been so much in evidence by the voting patterns the past few elections. Not simply electing "President" Soetoro, but countless senators, congressmen, etc all of whom are anti-catholic "catholics." These will be the regime's allies against true papal teachings and will include treasonous clerics like "Father" Jenkins and others. There will also be a coming liturgical war once the new missal goes into effect. Already priests who say the novus ordo ad orientem have received nasty letters from parishoners. Not only will this predicted war begin but will be a civil war within the church. If you want my prediction, there will be open schism as the american church goes its way apart from Rome. The VAST majority of catholics will follow "the american way" Pete Frey

I know on what side I stand.
It is clear that Obama has been laying the groundwork for the division of Catholics from day 1. He has sought out one failed Catholic after another to stand by him. He has sought out "Catholic" stages to use to promote anything he can. This is to build his "credibility" among those of weak wills and minds.
The media has a vendetta.
These are dark times.
Our Bishops HAVE to make a stand.

Catholic Knight, thank you for your great blog!

On the above article -- recently I read that Mr. Hudson vigorously has defended Marcial Maciel, the "founder" of the Legionaries -- a man who apparently abused not only seminarians but even his own child (he had children by at least two women). The Vatican has called Maciel "devoid of scruples and authentic religious sentiment."

Mr. Hudson's article would carry more weight if he acknowledged and apologized for his mistake in defending this sexual deviant. Maybe he has already done that, but it would make sense to at least mention it in the article discussed above. Otherwise, it seems as if the article is an attempt to distract from crimes within the Church, such as Maciel's.

The Holy Father himself said as he traveled to Portugal for the celebration of the Feast of Our Lady of Fatima last month,

"The greatest persecution of the church comes not from enemies on the outside, but is born from sin inside the church."

Mr. Hudson has come under fire for more thank one thing lately, but in my opinion that does not effect his ability to accurately forecast certain trends. His analysis in this case is spot on, and is confirmed by my own research on the matter. We would be unwise to dismiss Hudson's analysis just because of a few character misjudgements in the past. Mr. Hudson wasn't the only one fooled by Marcial Maciel.

Catholic Knight,

Thanks for your comment -- keep your eye on former legion enthusiasts, though -- Mr. Hudson is not the only one of them who has been sounding the alarm about secular attacks on the Church. That's why one wonders if it's an attempt to take the focus off legion. Of course, the attacks on the Church are real -- it's the motivation for the articles (leave legion alone b/c criticizing legion helps the enemies of the Church) and the lack of candor about the legion scandal that bother me.

Thanks again!

Sir Knight and the TCK community,

It's been a while since I've been here last though I do read the page daily for new postings. I just started my first ever real job at a hospital and I'm pleased! Finally my first big step towards independence.

It's kind of interesting that down south, it seems as if Obama will be bringing forth a division of faith. I do not know what in Canada will happen with regard to this, but I'm not suprized at this Obama vs Pope event to take place. This likely is part of the signs of the next great spiritual war or antichrist. I once watched the tail end of some hourly special on A&E on the end times, and this program said that the Antichrist was going to be of North African descent. His true birthplace is still being questioned to this day. Could Obama be the Antichrist???

One so called popular psychic, Sylvia Browne www.sylviabrowne.com/ who heretically started her own church, thinks that there will be a schism within the next couple of popes in our Chruch.

Now before you think I'm loony, I have also seen more credible or Catholic sources for this schism too. First of course, was TCK's posting on eschatology (study of end of times) back a few months ago. I suggest everyone searches for it and reads it for what he has been able to siphen from the Fathers of the church and other sources (It's not just his opinion!). Also, I had the esteemed priviledge of listening to a devout Catholic speaker at this years Marian Devotion converence (www.marianday.ca/index.html), Mark Mallett. He's a Canadian, and he's particularly devotional to the Divine Mercy of Jesus (which is part of Medujogore) and posts almost daily on his blog. This posting is one of many that also shares insight into the upcoming spiritual war, with foundations in the Bible: http://www.markmallett.com/blog/?p=522

Plus, Popes past and present, including our Beloved B16 has himself said enemies lie within our our Church (I think his most recent saying on that was with reference to the priest sex scandals of Europe).

To sum it up, it's definitely coming. But what can we laity do? I feel there will be great casulties somehow ...

Schism is a definite likely outcome, both in terms of the coming liturgical reforms as well as the moral/social issues which Mr Knight laid out. Priests are already suffering from attcks for saying the ancient form from fellow priests and bishops. But with "President" Soetoro stirring up the mix, it gets much uglier. We notice how he played Fr Jenkins like a violin and the "nun" in charge of Catholic health services. Plus we have the political insiders like Biden, Pelosi, Kerry, etc. Be not deceived. Pete FRey

I think a schism and war is coming, but it will be strictly on the left. I think the vast majority of liberal/progressive Catholics will throw in the towel of trying to change the Catholic Church, and instead will put thier energy to try to save and revive the Episcapal Church USA, and convert to that religion as the "replacement" for the Catholic Church in America (most politicians, like Pelosi, Biden, Kerry, will fall in this category). Those liberals that stay in the Catholic Church, will begin infighting. The liberal leadership is pro-abortion and anti-pornography, but the rank and file liberals are trending to be pro-life and pro-pornography. This will cause division among division in what's left of the liberal wing of the Catholic Church, although the "spin" on it will be called "diversity". Ultimately the liberal/progressive wing of the Catholic Church will self-destruct. Meanwhile, those true Catholics, faithful to the Pope (the vast majority of Catholic Americans), while we certainly will have some trials and tribulations in the days ahead, we will survive and be the victors.

wasn't it Saint Columba who stated that the Church was most pure during persecution? this is why he left Europe for Ireland to find persecution.
