Help Bring Catholicism To the South (Dixie)
THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT: Besides great media organizations like EWTN and Real Catholic Radio, there are special Catholic missionaries dedicated to bringing Catholicism to America's Southeast and Southern Midwest - otherwise known as Old Dixie. (click here to learn more) Please consider supporting them.

Two points, Mr Knight. 1) it isn't just the south which needs evangelization, but the entire country. Those "red counties" may look impressive, but consider the great numbers who have been labelled "the faithful departed" (once-Catholic Boston comes to mind) 2) as for "old Dixie" the one failure of evangelization in prior times is the failure to convert Blacks. You can bet that the "blue counties" have a significant black population, long driven to evangelicalism and all but ignored by the church. Sorry to say, but much of it stems from Irish Catholic anti-black prejudice. I would suggest a STRONG outreach to blacks, who long ago would have made excellent catholics, and at the same time raised their moral and social standing significantly. The old irish-italian-polish-hispanic model needs to be discarded. Pete Frey
Interesting to see it mapped out like this. I've never been to the south myself, (Miami doesn't count!). Although Protestants don't have the fullness of Christian Doctrine, which is the Catholic faith, MANY of them are outstanding Christians, leaders in the community, and help bring people to Christ and away from sin. I think it's important to join hands and defeat the evil that is secularism, consumerism, hedonism, etc. Together. The infighting must end in order to convert the culture at large.
Peace in Christ,
Eric

- Daily reflections on life by those who lived closest to Christ
Comments wont be posted that dont pat the catholic church on the back. Why is someone catholic and someone baptist? Why try to evangelise someone to be catholic and not baptist? Paul said that these divisions are not of god. Christ is the head and we are all brothers.
How many of those Northerners are real Catholics. We may not have many CAtholics in the south(I live in AL, and go to school in MS) but many are good Catholics. The most holy people I've ever met in the south. Let's worry about reteaching Catholics before we try to convert the world. Take thoughts from St. Francis of Assisi, preach the Gospel at all times, when necessary use words.
Will Humanism and Dualism eventually eradicate Creationism and then by turn, Faith based Modern Religion? I believe so. Maybe in the South a more dualistic and humanist outlook (given not too distant ethnic history) makes evangelism a more 'liberating' proposition.
