Now Bishops Will HAVE TO Do Their Jobs

THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT: The following is not a total victory, but it is good news. Think of it as a shot across the bow of the Canadian Catholic Church. The artillery shell missed the ship, but made a huge splash off the port bow, giving her a good rock and roll in the waters....
(The Catholic Register) - The Ontario Liberal government's equity and inclusive education policy will not mandate Catholic schools to teach students anti-Catholic views on marriage and sexuality or force them to establish gay-straight alliances, says Education Minister Leona Dombrowsky.

“There's no question that in Catholic schools, they have the constitutional right to to teach their faith in their schools and that has not changed,” Dombrowsky told The Catholic Register...

Sadly, Catholic schools in Canada will be required to host "gay support groups" to emotionally assist students dealing with homosexual temptations, but there is no word yet on what requirements those support groups will entail.

The moral to this story is that Canadian Catholic bishops (and priests) now have no choice but to enforce the teachings of the Church rigorously in regards to the area of homosexuality. If they don't, than the Canadian government will see that the Church has "changed" it's teachings on homosexuality, and no longer needs an exception to the law. So the word to Canadian Catholic bishops (and priests) is this. You better start doing your job, and enforcing the Church's teaching on homosexuality, or else the Canadian government will eventually eliminate your exception to the current law.

There's a major apostasy going on up here right now with our bishops. It's happening quietly, but happening nonetheless. Politically Correct statements, cowardice, a desire to be "respected" by the secular world, etc... on this matter has allowed for greater sodomite influence on Catholic education. The bishops are the problem. Had they been doing their jobs as shepherds, instead of being inert bureaucrats, the current situation would not be this atrocious.

I live In Brazil and just a few months ago the government rammed through a gay rights verdict allowing civil unions and requiring public schools to teach gay sensitivity. Argentina had also done this recently. Is it a coincidence that gay privilege is being promoted in various countries around the world at the same time?

I think the corrupt world elite is promoting this as a way to discourage marriage and procreation as they observe the world is becoming overpopulated. However, it is China and India not the Western World that is overpopulated so maybe they should go to the East to promote their nonsense.

For all this talk about the "Arab Spring" it could just as easily be called the "Gay Spring," seeing as how the militant homosexual lobby is making great strides around the Western world.

Yes, this is clearly part of a larger organized front. I suspect it has something to do with the New World Order.

I'm writing from Ontario, where this situation with the Equity and Inclusive Education Strategy is occurring. The recent article you link to is an example of the Provincial government talking out of both sides of their mouth on this, leading up to an election this fall--they have also promised the homosexualists that their agenda will be met. Thus, I am not confident that this shot went "over our bow" as you say, at least not yet.

Note that the Catholic school system in Ontario is also being undermined from the inside as the Ontario English Catholic Teachers' Association (OECTA) is supportive of the LGBT agenda (for example, see here: http://www.capitalpride.ca/oecta-statement-may-17th-international-day-against-homophobia-and-transphobia )

The Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops have just released an excellent document on same-sex attracted youth (see here: http://www.cccb.ca/site/images/stories/pdf/ministry-ssa_en.pdf ) but only after the Ontario Bishops issued a rather weak document on "anti-gay-bullying clubs" (see analysis by LifeSiteNews here: http://www.lifesitenews.com/news/ontario-bishops-anti-bullying-clubs-just-gay-straight-alliances-with-a-cath/ )

We're not out of the woods on this, not by any means.

Thanks very much for your blog---I am a regular reader.

Have no fear Catholics. You won't have to sacrifice all your comfortable family lives; liberals are cowards by nature because they don't believe in an afterlife or any type of judgement. Therefore, this life is all they have and they will not waste their comfortable existence or martyring themselves. They would rather compromise.

So stand up for yourselves and you'll be surprised how spineless liberals will compromise with you as they would with anyone that has guts. The timeless virtue of courage will get you further than you think. Just have courage to step up and the liberals will back down.

It's true - all very true. In fact Lesftist Liberals actually FEAR us Christians. They really do, and some of them are very candid about their fear of us. So the time has come to stand up and defend our rights vigorously. They will back down if we don't back down. They will compromise with us of we don't compromise with them.. They will because they already have an innate fear of us, and they don't believe in anything worth sacrificing their cushy lives for.

Mr Knight, here in the archdiocese of Philadelphia, with the recent appointment of Charles Chaput as the new archbishop, the liberal media is in hyperdrive, excoriating his alleged "failures" in Denver and his "excessive conservatism" The letters to the editor section and call in talk shows are replete with demands for the church to "get with it" (most of the comments from so-called "progressive catholics" And of course the usual canard about "tax exempt status" club is to wield the church into silence about pro-abortion politicians. The rubber will hit the road in Sept. when Chaput takes over. Pete Frey

Pete, you will not be disappointed with Chaput, but don't be surprised if it takes a year for him to get his program off the ground, and don't expect it to go smoothly. He will encounter resistance from his own flock.

The time has come for us to start using the Liberal's irrational fear of us to our advantage. Let them be afraid. Let them panic. Let us promote the axiom "when in fear or in doubt, run in circles, scream and shout.". The more hysterical they get, the less effective they will be in opposing us.

Our Canadian bishops are getting better at being more Catholic, but there's still a long way to go. Of the many times I've been present at meetings with a bishop or two (or three plus a cardinal...), there has been the strong sense that some of them are more concerned about being Canadian first and Catholic second. The folk 55 to 75 years of age generally suffer from timidity. Once, in a meeting, I heard the question asked - "Why do the bishops seem to do nothing when Catholic politicians openly defy Church teaching on abortion, same sex "marriage", etc. Why isn't anything being done to counter their public trashing of the Faith? Why aren't these Catholics-in-name-only excommunicated? My children are getting mixed messages about what it means to live the faith publicly." The response by one archbishop was - "Well, excommunication doesn't really fit our Canadian way of doing things. We're a little more easy going than our American brethren." The archbishop's follow-up comments were evasive and practically dismissive of the lay gentleman's genuine concern. With (arch)bishop's like that, who needs enemies?

Anonymous from Brasil: I think that explains why Brasil and Argentina did so poorly in Copa America.

Really? I haven't heard of the American episcopate ex-communicating any CINO politicians over here.
