It's official. The Catholic Knight is retired.  I'm hanging up the helmet and passing the torch. There will be no more articles, no more commentaries, no more calls to action. THIS BLOG IS CLOSED. I've spent a very long time thinking about this, I believe the time has come, and is a bit overdue.  I want to thank my readers for everything, but most especially for your encouragement and your willingness to go out there and fight the good fight. So, that being the case, I've spend the last several weeks looking for bloggers who are fairly active, and best represent something akin to the way I think and what I believe.  I recommend the following blogs for my readers to bookmark and check on regularly. Pick one as your favourite, or pick them all. They are all great..... In His Majesty's Service, THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT

America In Catholic Prophecy

Washington DC Post Apocalypse
In the sixth period of the Church will begin the powerful Monarch and the Holy Pontiff, as mentioned previously, and it will last until the revelation of Antichrist.  In this period, God will console His Holy Church for the affliction and great tribulation which she has endured during the fifth period.  All nations will become Catholic.  Vocations will be abundant as never before, and all men will seek only the Kingdom of God and His justice.  Men will live in peace, and this will be granted because people will make their peace with God.  They will live under the protection of the Great Monarch and his successors.

THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT:  As Christian Americans we are naturally obsessed with the prophetic future of our nation.  Evangelicals search feverishly for some allegorical reference to the United States in Sacred Scripture.  Catholics seek references to America in private revelation.  An entire devotion has arisen during the 20th century, called Our Lady of America, in which the Blessed Virgin Mary is said to have relayed specific warnings and guidance to our fledgling nation.  Yes, that's right, I said 'fledgling' nation, because you see, the United States is not a very old nation at all.  It's rather young actually, less than 240 years old, and our government is built entirely on a proposition more than any culture or national identity.  This makes America very structurally weak, relying entirely on the force of the federal government to hold it together.

What Americans often forget however, is that our federal republic is a creation of circumstance and nothing more.  When we talk about culture, we have to ask ourselves what culture is.  The word 'culture' comes from the Latin word cultus meaning religion.  Culture is in fact nothing more then the way a religion interacts with a people and their environment.  America, for the most part is a culture based on the indigenous Christian cultures of the British Isles -- English, Scottish and Irish.  There is a smattering of other cultures as well, that have left their impression on the United States, but the dominant culture (the prevailing and established culture) is very British.  Americans speak English.  Our legal system is based on English Common Law.  Our traditional music and dance are based on Celtic folk culture -- Irish and Scottish.  Even the large black population in the United States is heavily influenced by this, as they have virtually nothing in common with African culture and haven't in centuries.  This is who we are, and there is no mistaking that.  We are all Americans, and that means we are all culturally British, or at least some variant of that.

What makes matters confusing is the modern phenomenon of multiculturalism and the historical reality of Yankee imperialism.  We could argue America's empire actually began just before the American Civil War (1861-1865), in what we know as the Mexican-American War (1846-1848).  This resulted in the large annexation of previously held Mexican territories, as well as their people and culture.  Having once been a resident of Southern California, I can attest to the heavy Spanish-Mexican influence on this region to this very day.  Thus, in the Southwest corner of the United States, there exists a very Spanish-Mexican culture, punctuated by enclaves of other cultures that have immigrated from all over the world.  In this region of the United States, it seems that the English language is optional, and as a result of this (as well as massive immigration from Mexico in recent years), much of the businesses and local governments in the United States have essentially become bilingual (English and Spanish).

I bring this up because to understand America's future, we must understand America's history.  The United States of America is a proposition nation, made up entirely of a propositional republican form of government that was heavily based on a culture of British imperialism.  The creation of the United States of America is the result of a secession from the British empire, followed by a political imitation  of that same empire.  The American hegemony is very British, very Protestant and very imperialistic.  It is also an aberration.  For had it not been for the abuses of King George III, the original thirteen colonies that started the United States might have never seceded from the British Empire.  Had this secession from the crown never happened, it is likely the United States would exist much in the same way Canada does today.  In fact, I dare say, the United States of America would exist today as part of the British Commonwealth, and her borders would stop at the Mississippi River, (France having sold the Louisiana Purchase to Spain instead), while Canada would occupy most of the American Northwest, and Mexico would likely occupy much of the American Midwest and Southwest.  This is just speculation to be sure, but the point of such historical speculation is to further understand what America is.  Had it not been for the British-Protestant-Imperialist heritage of the United States, coupled with the unrestrained nature of republican politics, it would not exist today as we know it.

History being what it was however, the United States consists primarily of English-speaking Anglo-Celtic peoples, with the exception of the Southwest corner of the United States, which is heavily Spanish-Mexican in language and culture.  That being clarified, let's get into what we know to be the prophecies of the coming era, especially as they relate to private revelation and the future of the United States.

Above I briefly mentioned the devotion to Our Lady of America.  This was canonically approved in 1963 by the Archbishop of Cincinnati, the late Paul Francis Leibold.  Because of some concern over this, the canonical approval was reviewed by canon lawyer Archbishop (now Cardinal) Raymond Burke in 2007.  (Cardinal Burke is now Prefect of the Apostolic Signatura at the Vatican.)  Cardinal Burke's letter of canonical review can be read here.  Cardinal Burke determined that Archbishop Leibold did indeed canonically approve the apparition and message according to the canonical norms of the Catholic Church, and that because of this, Catholics are free to practice what he described as this 'beautiful devotion.'  The message of Our Lady of America is long, but essentially simple in nature.  Basically, it involves a commitment to the indwelling presence of the Holy Trinity within the hearts of every Christian, and an absolute commitment to chastity and spiritual purity.  We are told in this message that this is God's will for the people of the United States, to lead the world in chastity and spiritual purity, and that failure to embrace God's will on this will only result in our national misery.  Not many details are given as to what this 'misery' entails.  We can assume that much of it is our own doing, since it is obvious that we Americans, as a nation, have not heeded the warning and reformed our lives accordingly.  We have seen American society unravel before our very eyes.  In just the course of one generation, the United States of America has gone from the apex of human civilisation to a nation that is fighting to stay above third-world status.  Morality is virtually a thing of the past in America.  Teen pregnancy is rampant.  Unwed mothers are the norm.  Couples are far more prone to just 'live together' than enter into marriage, and as a result of this, artificial contraception and abortion are considered 'reproductive rights' protected by the government.  America is the world's number-one producer of pornography which is exported around the globe.  In some places, prostitution is legal in the United States, and protected by state law.  Strip clubs and 'gentlemen bars' can be found in every American city.  'Ladies clubs,' where men strip for entertainment, can be found in the larger cities.  Many revealing fashion trends are created in the United States, and exported around the world for material consumption.  The United States government is also the chief promoter of abortion, artificial contraception and 'homosexual rights' in the whole world.  At home, both our federal government, and many state governments, have directly persecuted the Catholic Church for its stand on sexual morality, especially as it relates to the administration of its own ministries.  Whatever God had planned for the United States as revealed through Our Lady of America, it is painfully clear beyond all shadow of a doubt that Americans have soundly rejected it.  So according to the private revelation, now comes the 'misery.'

There are three particular apparitions and messages that I believe directly relate to the future of the United States of America.  These three are the apparitions at Fatima, Akita and Champion.  While the political fate of the United States is not revealed to us, I think it is safe to assume, based on the global nature of two of these apparitions, confirmed by the local nature of one, that the United States will not remain intact as the political entity we know today.  I also think it is safe to say the federal republic that was created in 1789 will be lost as well.  In all likelihood, it would appear that the English-speaking people (including those in the former United States) will once again be united under the reign of one English-speaking king, who himself will be subject to the prophesied French-speaking Great Monarch.  Likewise, the Spanish-speaking world will also find themselves reunited under a similar king of their own culture.  As for the territories of the United States, I think it may be safe to say that they will be divided along the terms of dominant language.  The dominant English-speaking regions will likely go to the English king, while the dominant Spanish-speaking regions will likely go to the Spanish-speaking king.  All of these kings will be ruled by the French-speaking Great Monarch, the new Holy Roman Emperor, and they will all be Catholic.

The very thought of such a radical geopolitical paradigm-shift is shocking to most of us today, but in light of America's refusal to follow God's plan for us, should it be surprising?  We must remember WHY we are an independent nation to begin with.  Why was that?  Ah yes, American colonists sought independence from a despotic and tyrannical King George III -- a Protestant emperor!  God in his mercy granted that independence, and he tolerated the Protestant imperialism of their American descendants.  However, when he revealed his plan for us as a nation in 1963, we immediately rejected it outright, and it was within just one decade that America began its downward spiral into irrelevancy.  There is no indication of any national repentance in sight.  Only a remnant of faithful Catholics (and a few Protestants of good will) remain for the worldwide Chastisement that is to come.

The private revelation of Our Lady of Fatima needs no introduction.  It is perhaps the most famous Marian apparition in the world.  Canonical approval has been given at both the local and Vatican level.  Sister Lucia, the eldest of the three seer children at Fatima Portugal in 1917, revealed that as a result of the 20th century, many souls would go to hell, and the primary cause of their damnation would be sexual impurity.  Because the United States of America has virtually led the way in sexual impurity toward the latter half of the 20th century, until now, this First Secret of Fatima does not bode well for us as a nation of people....
Our Lady showed us a great sea of fire which seemed to be under the earth. Plunged in this fire were demons and souls in human form, like transparent burning embers, all blackened or burnished bronze, floating about in the conflagration, now raised into the air by the flames that issued from within themselves together with great clouds of smoke, now falling back on every side like sparks in a huge fire, without weight or equilibrium, and amid shrieks and groans of pain and despair, which horrified us and made us tremble with fear. The demons could be distinguished by their terrifying and repulsive likeness to frightful and unknown animals, all black and transparent. This vision lasted but an instant. How can we ever be grateful enough to our kind heavenly Mother, who had already prepared us by promising, in the first Apparition, to take us to heaven. Otherwise, I think we would have died of fear and terror.

First Secret of Fatima
The Second Secret of Fatima relates directly to the end of World War I and the start of World War II, Here the United States is indirectly referenced, because America was a chief player in both World War I and World War II.  It was our unnecessary involvement in World War I that ultimately brought about World War II, and it is after World War II that America (alongside Russia's Soviet Union) establishes the New World Order that would ultimately play out the final drama in these latter days...
You have seen hell where the souls of poor sinners go. To save them, God wishes to establish in the world devotion to my Immaculate Heart. If what I say to you is done, many souls will be saved and there will be peace. The war is going to end: but if people do not cease offending God, a worse one will break out during the Pontificate of Pope Pius XI. When you see a night illumined by an unknown light, know that this is the great sign given you by God that he is about to punish the world for its crimes, by means of war, famine, and persecutions of the Church and of the Holy Father. To prevent this, I shall come to ask for the Consecration of Russia to my Immaculate Heart, and the Communion of reparation on the First Saturdays. If my requests are heeded, Russia will be converted, and there will be peace; if not, she will spread her errors throughout the world, causing wars and persecutions of the Church. The good will be martyred; the Holy Father will have much to suffer; various nations will be annihilated. In the end, my Immaculate Heart will triumph. The Holy Father will consecrate Russia to me, and she shall be converted, and a period of peace will be granted to the world.

Second Secret of Fatima
A few things should be pointed out here.  Our Lady of Fatima wanted to establish a world devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.  The United States of America was dedicated to the Immaculate Conception by the Catholic bishops at the First Council of Baltimore back in 1846.  The National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception was built in honour of this patronage, in Washington DC, during the time of Sister Mary Ephrem's visitations by Our Lady of America.  This apparition of Mary requested that a statue of her as "Our Lady of America" be placed in the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception by the bishops in solemn procession as a sign that America had accepted God's plan of chastity and spiritual purity.  The statue was never placed there, and remains at the Blessed John Paul II Cultural Centre in Washington DC, just blocks away from the National Shrine.  It is placed in an ideal location for a future procession, however, it looks as if the Chastisement of America will have to come first.  Regarding the requested Fatima consecration of Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, that did not happen in a timely manner.  Sister Lucia plainly stated that the consecration came too late, and did not follow the full instructions of Our Lady of Fatima.  So while the effects of the coming Chastisement will be mitigated because of it, they will not be prevented.  Russia did indeed spread its errors around the world, as prophesied, and persecuted the Church most severely.  Of the many errors Russia spread, one of the most damning was sexual liberation, which was carried to America by Soviet moles in the media and universities.  The objective was to weaken America's moral foundation and thus prepare it for an eventual communist takeover.  (See the writings of Friedrich Engels for details of this strategy.)  Rather than embrace the message of Our Lady of America, we Americans (mostly Protestants and cultural Catholics) chose the message of Soviet moles instead, fully and wholeheartedly embracing sexual immorality as our new national norm, in what came to be called the 'sexual revolution.'  Our Lady of Fatima went on to describe what would come of this...
I write in obedience to you, my God, who command me to do so through his Excellency the Bishop of Leiria and through your Most Holy Mother and mine. After the two parts which I have already explained, at the left of Our Lady and a little above, we saw an Angel with a flaming sword in his left hand; flashing, it gave out flames that looked as though they would set the world on fire; but they died out in contact with the splendour that Our Lady radiated towards him from her right hand: pointing to the earth with his right hand, the Angel cried out in a loud voice: 'Penance, Penance, Penance!'. And we saw in an immense light that is God: 'something similar to how people appear in a mirror when they pass in front of it' a Bishop dressed in White 'we had the impression that it was the Holy Father'. Other Bishops, Priests, men and women Religious going up a steep mountain, at the top of which there was a big Cross of rough-hewn trunks as of a cork-tree with the bark; before reaching there the Holy Father passed through a big city half in ruins and half trembling with halting step, afflicted with pain and sorrow, he prayed for the souls of the corpses he met on his way; having reached the top of the mountain, on his knees at the foot of the big Cross he was killed by a group of soldiers who fired bullets and arrows at him, and in the same way there died one after another the other Bishops, Priests, men and women Religious, and various lay people of different ranks and positions. Beneath the two arms of the Cross there were two Angels each with a crystal aspersorium in his hand, in which they gathered up the blood of the Martyrs and with it sprinkled the souls that were making their way to God.

Third Secret of Fatima
When the Vatican unveiled the third secret, Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, the current Pope Benedict XVI, explained that the language of the third secret was apocalyptic in nature, and as a result should be interpreted in a highly symbolic manner.  The image painted is symbolically a world destroyed by the errors of communism, both directly and indirectly, the faith of millions left in ruin, and the torturous persecutions of the Church reaching even as high as the pope himself.  Pope John Paul II suffered two assassination attempts, one of them (the most famous and public one), was prompted by the Soviet KGB.  Who knows what future persecutions await the Church, and what further sufferings await the pope.  Students of private revelation have an idea.  Something interesting about the solar phenomenon surrounding Our Lady of Fatima.  As reported by some 70,000 people present at the event in 1917; the sun appeared to dance and twirl in the sky, taking on all shapes and colours, then it plunged to earth, terrifying all who witnessed it, leaving their rain-soaked clothing and ground dry, before returning to its natural state in the sky.  Pope Paul VI believed this miraculous event was a forewarning of some terrible future Chastisement involving fire from the sky that would cleanse the earth and leave it 'dry' for the persecuted Church to begin her work of preaching the gospel again.  It is here Our Lady of Fatima retires her message, and picks it up again as Our Lady of Akita in Japan in 1973.

The Apparition of Our Lady of Akita occurred in the remote area of Yuzawadai, near the city of Akita in Japan.  This occurred between July and October of 1973.  Like Fatima this apparition and message has received proper canonical approval from the local ordinary, Bishop John Shojiro Ito gave approval on April 22, 1984.  This was followed by the 1988 private approval of Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger (currently Pope Benedict XVI), as relayed by the former Ambassador of the Philippines to the Holy See, Mr. Howard Dee.  In keeping with canonical norms, however, the approval of Bishop Ito should be enough for us.  The private revelation at Akita is chilling and when asked about its nature, Bishop Ido replied that the message of Akita is the message of Fatima.  Sister Agnes reported the following...
July 6, 1973

"My daughter, my novice, you have obeyed me well in abandoning all to follow me. Is the infirmity of your ears painful? Your deafness will be healed, be sure. Does the wound of your hand cause you to suffer? Pray in reparation for the sins of men. Each person in this community is my irreplaceable daughter. Do you say well the prayer of the Handmaids of the Eucharist? Then, let us pray it together."

"Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, truly present in Holy Eucharist, I consecrate my body and soul to be entirely one with Your Heart, being sacrificed at every instant on all the altars of the world and giving praise to the Father pleading for the coming of His Kingdom."

"Please receive this humble offering of myself. Use me as You will for the glory of the Father and the salvation of souls."

"Most holy Mother of God, never let me be separated from Your Divine Son. Please defend and protect me as Your Special Child. Amen."

When the prayer was finished, the Heavenly Voice said: "Pray very much for the Pope, Bishops, and Priests. Since your Baptism you have always prayed faithfully for them. Continue to pray very much...very much. Tell your superior all that passed today and obey him in everything that he will tell you. He has asked that you pray with fervour."

August 3, 1973

"My daughter, my novice, do you love the Lord? If you love the Lord, listen to what I have to say to you."

"It is very important...You will convey it to your superior."

"Many men in this world afflict the Lord. I desire souls to console Him to soften the anger of the Heavenly Father. I wish, with my Son, for souls who will repair by their suffering and their poverty for the sinners and ingrates."

"In order that the world might know His anger, the Heavenly Father is preparing to inflict a great chastisement on all mankind. With my Son I have intervened so many times to appease the wrath of the Father. I have prevented the coming of calamities by offering Him the sufferings of the Son on the Cross, His Precious Blood, and beloved souls who console Him forming a cohort of victim souls. Prayer, penance and courageous sacrifices can soften the Father's anger. I desire this also from your community...that it love poverty, that it sanctify itself and pray in reparation for the ingratitude and outrages of so many men.

Recite the prayer of the Handmaids of the Eucharist with awareness of its meaning; put it into practice; offer in reparation (whatever God may send) for sins. Let each one endeavour, according to capacity and position, to offer herself entirely to the Lord."

"Even in a secular institute prayer is necessary. Already souls who wish to pray are on the way to being gathered together. Without attaching to much attention to the form, be faithful and fervent in prayer to console the Master."

After a silence:

"Is what you think in your heart true? Are you truly decided to become the rejected stone? My novice, you who wish to belong without reserve to the Lord, to become the spouse worthy of the Spouse, make your vows knowing that you must be fastened to the Cross with three nails. These three nails are poverty, chastity, and obedience. Of the three, obedience is the foundation. In total abandon, let yourself be led by your superior. He will know how to understand you and to direct you."

October 13, 1973

"My dear daughter, listen well to what I have to say to you. You will inform your superior."

After a short silence:

"As I told you, if men do not repent and better themselves, the Father will inflict a terrible punishment on all humanity. It will be a punishment greater than the deluge, such as one will never seen before. Fire will fall from the sky and will wipe out a great part of humanity, the good as well as the bad, sparing neither priests nor faithful. The survivors will find themselves so desolate that they will envy the dead. The only arms which will remain for you will be the Rosary and the Sign left by My Son. Each day recite the prayers of the Rosary. With the Rosary, pray for the Pope, the bishops and priests."

"The work of the devil will infiltrate even into the Church in such a way that one will see cardinals opposing cardinals, bishops against bishops. The priests who venerate me will be scorned and opposed by their confreres...churches and altars sacked; the Church will be full of those who accept compromises and the demon will press many priests and consecrated souls to leave the service of the Lord.

"The demon will be especially implacable against souls consecrated to God. The thought of the loss of so many souls is the cause of my sadness. If sins increase in number and gravity, there will be no longer pardon for them"

"With courage, speak to your superior. He will know how to encourage each one of you to pray and to accomplish works of reparation."

"It is Bishop Ito, who directs your community."

And She smiled and then said:

"You have still something to ask? Today is the last time that I will speak to you in living voice. From now on you will obey the one sent to you and your superior."

"Pray very much the prayers of the Rosary. I alone am able still to save you from the calamities which approach. Those who place their confidence in me will be saved."

Message of Our Lady of Akita
Again, like in the Third Secret of Fatima, we see the coming of flames.  Our Lady of Fatima revealed a miracle of God, in which the earth was nearly scorched by the sun witnessed by tens of thousands of people.  In a vision she revealed to the three children: "an Angel with a flaming sword in his left hand; flashing, it gave out flames that looked as though they would set the world on fire; but they died out in contact with the splendour that Our Lady radiated towards him from her right hand."  At Akita, our Lady again warned: "Fire will fall from the sky and will wipe out a great part of humanity, the good as well as the bad, sparing neither priests nor faithful. The survivors will find themselves so desolate that they will envy the dead. The only arms which will remain for you will be the Rosary and the Sign left by My Son."  So here we see the future of our fallen world, which awaits us in terror, the transition from our present world into the world that the Venerable Holzhauser foresaw, the exit of the 'fifth period' of the Church and the dawn of the 'sixth period.'  It shall be inaugurated by fire from the sky.  Where, however, is America's place in all of this?  What becomes of the United States?  Surely something special awaits the last remaining superpower of the world?

To answer we have only this.  In 1859, just one year after Mary appeared in France to Saint Bernadette Soubirous, revealing herself as the 'Immaculate Conception,' in what has come to be known there as the apparition of Our Lady of Lourdes, she appeared again to a young Adele Brice in Champion Wisconsin, just outside of Green Bay.  The apparition and message were approved by Bishop David L. Ricken, ordinary of Green Bay, on December 8, 2010.  Here Our Lady revealed herself as the 'Queen of Heaven' and 'Our Lady of Good Help.'  The private revelation itself is simple, with a very simple instruction, and does not itself include any apocalyptic visions of the future....
As they approached the hallowed spot, Adele could see the beautiful lady, clothed in dazzling white, with a yellow sash around her waist. Her dress fell to her feet in graceful folds. She had a crown of stars around her head, and her long, golden, wavy hair fell loosely around her shoulders. Such a heavenly light shone around her that Adele could hardly look back at her sweet face. Overcome by this heavenly light and the beauty of her amiable visitor, Adele fell on her knees.

'In God’s name, who are you and what do you want of me?’ asked Adele, as she had been directed.

‘I am the Queen of Heaven, who prays for the conversion of sinners, and I wish you to do the same. You received Holy Communion this morning, and that is well. But you must do more. Make a general confession, and offer Communion for the conversion of sinners. If they do not convert and do penance, my Son will be obliged to punish them’

'Adele, who is it?'' said one of the women. 'O why can't we see her as you do?' said another weeping.

‘Kneel,’ said Adele, ‘the Lady says she is the Queen of Heaven.’ Our Blessed Lady turned, looked kindly at them, and said, ‘Blessed are they that believe without seeing. What are you doing here in idleness…while your companions are working in the vineyard of my Son?’

‘What more can I do, dear Lady?’ said Adele, weeping.

'Gather the children in this wild country and teach them what they should know for salvation’

‘But how shall I teach them who know so little myself?’ replied Adele.

‘Teach them,’ replied her radiant visitor, ‘their catechism, how to sign themselves with the sign of the Cross, and how to approach the sacraments; that is what I wish you to do. Go and fear nothing. I will help you.’ "

The manifestation of Our Lady then lifted her hands, as though beseeching a blessing for those at her feet, and slowly vanished, leaving Adele overwhelmed and prostrate on the ground.

Our Lady of Good Help
Champion Wisconsin
Our Lady of Good Help told the young American girl to do nothing more than teach the Catholic faith to the children of this wild land (America).  There is yet one ominous line in this revelation: 'If they do not convert and do penance, my Son will be obliged to punish them.'  In light of later revelations, at Fatima and Akita, this is ominous indeed.  Like Fatima however, a miracle occurred at Champion, which foreshadowed the punishment to come upon the United States and the whole world.  Our Lady demonstrated her presence with a miracle exactly twelve years after the initial Champion apparition. By this time Adele Brice had become a religious sister. In 1871 a raging wildfire swept through Wisconsin destroying many of the settlements in the area. It was one of the worst in U.S. history. Rather than flee for their lives, Sister Adele and the faithful rushed to the shrine of Our Lady of Good Help. The fire completely surrounded the shrine, but rather than panic in fear they turned toward Our Lady and prayed. The fire engulfed everything in all directions, singeing the fence around the shrine on all sides, but the shrine, the small plot of land it stood and everyone inside were left untouched.  It is a foreshadowing of what is to come upon the people of the United States of America.  The same can be said of Canada, Australia, Russia, China, Europe and the whole world.  The great and mighty superpower of the United States of America will be thrown in with the lot of every nation, no more special than they, to endure the same Chastisement that is to come.  What awaits America?  Fire!  Not just any fire, but fire from heaven, in some kind of cataclysmic worldwide disaster that will destroy most of the inhabitants of the planet, and leave a world behind that is ruled by Catholic kings, a Great Monarch and a holy pope.  It will be the last great era of peace, the sixth age of the Church, before the rise of Antichrist and the end of history.

What then is the moral to this story for Catholics in the United States?  Simple.  We have only two jobs.  First, turn to Our Lady and Lord through the Holy Rosary and the Holy Eucharist.  Second, evangelise, Evangelise, EVANGELISE!!!  As our Lady told Sister Adele: 'Gather the children in this wild country and teach them what they should know for salvation. Teach them their catechism, how to sign themselves with the sign of the Cross, and how to approach the sacraments; that is what I wish you to do. Go and fear nothing. I will help you.’  This is our only hope against the heavenly fire that is to come, for if we do this, we will save ourselves by relying on the protection of Jesus through Mary.  As it becomes painfully clear that the political influence of the Catholic Church is coming to an end, an the lofty goal of 'Social Justice' appears further and further out of reach, we have nothing left to do but return to our first mission and transform our neighbourhoods one conversion at a time.  For our fate is the same as all others.  As Our Lady of Fatima prophesied, 'entire nations will be annihilated,' so it seems probable that ours will be no exception.

Hello again Knight. You might remember me from not too long ago. Concerning Mystery Babylon (USA) and Russia.

Thank you for spending the time to write this. Very in-depth and well written.

Yes, fire will be the punishment, not only for America, but for the majority of the world, sadly...the time is almost here.

Remember the words of Sister Lucy on December 26, 1957, saying to Father Fuentes, "Tell them Father that many times the Most Holy Virgin told my cousins Francisco and Jacinta, as well as myself, that many nations will disappear from the face of the earth. She said that Russia will be the instrument of chastisement chosen by Heaven to punish the whole world if we do not beforehand obtain the conversion of that poor nation."

Because the world has chosen Soviet Communist ideals over The Living Word...then they are what we will receive...and everything that will come with them.

I pray, not only for others, but first for myself. To lead a holy of a life as I can. I pray for the forgiveness of my sins, and for the strength from our Father to turn away from sin. To be ready for Him when it is my time.

May the Lord have mercy on us all...

Can you clarify this statement?

"Regarding the requested Fatima consecration of Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, that did not happen in a timely manner. Sister Lucia plainly stated that the consecration came too late, and did not follow the full instructions of Our Lady of Fatima."

I had thought that Sister Lucia did confirm the legitimacy of the last consecration. I apologize if this is a misunderstanding on my part.

The Catholic Knight said...

Here is the deal with the consecration anonymous. There is so much controversy surrounding it that even the top brass in the Vatican can't agree. For example, Cardinal Bertone has difinitively said that 'Fatima is finished,' that everything regarding it is done. Yet just two years ago, Pope Benedict XVI contradicted him by saying there is still more to be fulfilled with the Fatima prophecies. In fact, Russia has been consecrated not once, not twice, but three times!!! Twice by Pope Pius XII and once by Pope John Paul II. Each time Sister Lucia said the consecration has been received in heaven and that it will help, but she specifically said the first consecration was too late to stop the appointed Chastisement.

As a Brazilian I see that American influence here is nothing more than media promoted gender confusion, gay rights, importation of junk food to a country that otherwise has natural and real food, materialistic and anti family values, and finally, cable TV.

What's worse, the US continues to strong arm our weak minded politicians into bad trade deals where we, a country with an abundance of sugar cane, for example are forced to import lousy corn syrup from the US in trade for the US accepting our exports. The US have become an evil influence on my country in the last 30 years.

Sir Knight,

Another fine article and very timely. Thank you for drawing the threads of these four apparitions together. I hadn't connected the fire from the sky foretold at Akita and elsewhere with the Miracle of Fatima and that of Champion - interesting insights!

Your advice - "turn to Our Lady and Lord through the Holy Rosary and the Holy Eucharist. Second, evangelise, Evangelise, EVANGELISE!!!" - is exactly what is needed.

When I was a teen at school, a dear nun impressed upon my mind the importance of living each day as our last so that we would be prepared even if death came unexpectedly. This makes sense anytime but more so now as the Chastisement moves closer. Therefore, it seems to me, that we should take advantage of God's offer of Mercy never letting an opportunity pass - hence regular Confession, making the 9 First Fridays and participating fully in Divine Mercy Sunday (15th April this year).

I wonder if those who know their Faith well and are currently at a loose end - those who don't need to work full time and enjoy good health - might consider becoming catechists. I can tell you from personal experience (in a parish centre as well as a state school setting some years ago) that if parents are included in their young children's religion lessons as helpers, those who have missed a good Catholic education in their own youth learn along with their children without anyone noticing. In this way, one can reach whole families and brings young parents together to support each other in their common vocation.

There is so much to be done in terms of catechesis and evangelisation and so few to do the work! But if approached with prayer and fasting, I believe God will magnify the results.

CK, what do you feel about the growing number of near death experiences now being verified by doctors all over the world? They seem to have the common thread of a peaceful, loving, and positive experience (99% of them). there is rarely any mention of hellfire and damnation except for a very few people who admitted to being negative people and had near death negative experiences. How does near death experience as reported by people like Dr. Elizabeth Kubler Ross fit in with Christian beliefs on the high probability of going to hell?

Sir Knight:

Kudos on your well-written article. If I’m not mistaken, the approval of the apparition of Our Lady of Good Help, Champion, WI, came during the season in which Wisconsin’s Green Bay Packers won the Super Bowl championship! That seems more than a coincidence to me!

As to Our Lady of America, my understanding is, the approval must come from the ordinary of the diocese in which the apparition occurred, which was that of Toledo, not Cincinnati:

However, as you have described, the prophecies of Our Lady at Fatima, Akita, and Champion, should urge us to make the most of this Lent, as a severe chastisement seems ever more likely, and sooner than later. It has been noted elsewhere that because “40” is such a biblically significant number, the 40th anniversary of Roe v. Wade could be a signal time for the chastisement, especially considering the Pope’s prayer, calling for the era of peace promised at Fatima to begin by 2017.

As always, the magisterial tome “Trial, Tribulation & Triumph” is a must read:

Thank you again, Sir Knight, for your efforts to promote Fatima and other gifts to the Church.

Anonymous/Commenter 5,

Injustice makes one angry but it's not the ordinary people of the USA that are the culprits; it's those relatively few who profit from the evil done. Likewise, England once persecuted Irish Catholics, but it wasn't the English people that sought and did the harm but those few who held and wielded power and made money on the injustices perpetrated.

I found it infuriating when the media here reported that the Australian people had wanted to go to war with Iraq. I remember the public demonstrations against that war and the anti-war conversations. But the truth has been ignored to construct a history that passes the blame from the government who chose to participate in an unjust war to the people who had nothing to do with it.

We are said to enjoy a democracy but the people's wishes are often ignored while things we don't want are delivered. I think it was quotquot (another commenter here a few days ago) that said that democracy can't work without catholicity, and that makes sense as a real Catholic wouldn't engage in corruption. The expect the closest nations will come to this ideal will be during the period of peace following the Chastisement.

Great post Sir Knight, but there is a detail of the Fatima mystery that I keep thinking about.

"an Angel with a flaming sword in his left hand;" this detail about the hand the Angel uses to hold the sword may seem trivial, but I figure even minor things in the Fatima prophesy could be powerful and important. Sir Knight, and everyone reading, I please ask what are your thoughts about the one detail?

The Catholic Knight said...

In biblical reference to God, those who are placed at his right hand at judgement are told to enter the kingdom, while those placed at his left are sent into everlasting fire. The illustration could be a reference to that. The angel in the Fatima vision may be symbolising that the fire is coming for the damned (left hand) no matter what, while those who are being saved (right hand) are told to do penance so as to reduce the number of martyrs (sparing neither priests nor religious) in the coming fire. I get the impression that the fire is on its way, no matter what, and only obedience to the instructions of Our Lady can mitigate the effects of this fire.

If I may be allowed to edit my previous post. I meant to quote the full passage from Zechariah.

Very good read Sir Knight - a purifying fire that will consume all that is evil, just like purgatory. Also read Zechariah 13:8-9: "In the whole land, declares the LORD, two thirds of them shall be cut off and perish, and one third shall be left. I will bring the one third THROUGH FIRE, and I will refine them as silver is refined, and I will test them as gold is tested. They shall call upon my name, and I will say, 'They are my people,' and they will say, 'The Lord is my God'". This may be the holy remnant that will survive the chastisement and enter into the Era of Peace to repopulate and rebuild the nations. I also think this may happen sooner than people realize. I'm referencing Pope Leo's alleged vision of the 100 years given to the enemy to destroy the Church. Many people believe that when Our Lady appeared in Fatima in 1917 the countdown started which means that by 2017 this dark time will come to an end. One can only hope. The thing now is to pray to mitigate the punishment as much as possible, and to trust Our Lord completely.

Sir Knight,

if we are called to bring souls to Christ, which we are, this story
shows the necessity of the Second Great Commandment.

what did Christ Jesus say about loving our enemies and doing good to them, plus the admonitions in Matt 25: 34-40, Acts 2: 42-47, and the book of james - chiefly Chs 2-4 and 5: 1-6?

We are called to extend Christ's mercy not only to our own, but to ‘our enemies' also.

Love the Lord your God with all yourheart, soul, mind and strength, and the second is like it; love your neighbour as yourself...upon this the whole law hangs…'

'...Then the scribes and doctors of the law asked him 'Who is our neighbour?...'

As we draw even closer to the Singularity of Christ's passion, death and resultant ressurection, it would behoove us to take this above attitude to heart; the Catholic Church should be lightyears ahead of everyone else, and would do well to learn from our Protestant brethren of good will, to learn from 'General naman' as it were...

With the Chastizement drawing close, we need to learn how to care for one another. Praying the Rosary, CDM, Office, studying Holy Scripture, attending mass whenever possible (remember there are many of us for whom it is impossible to attend daily mass as much as we long to), even whether we use the 'correct' liturgical language or dress appropriately before entering into an audience with the King of Kings, is fruitless if we do not heed Christ’s command in Matt 23: 23; yes, these things are important, but if our brethren, be they of like faith or of no faith, are suffering, we have clearly abrogated our side of the agreement. We will need one another in the times ahead.

Thank you for another enlightening post. I am afraid things will get worse if Obama is re-elected. He and Hillary Clinton are advancing gay rights in the developing world by making its recognition in law as a pre-requisite to receiving financial aid.

The future is indeed sad.

Sir Knight,

On a related note, Our Catholic University held what can only be described as another 'High Mass' in the NO format today. We had two priests on duty; both gen X'ers in their early 40's at the very latest, both incredible and straight down the line!! amazing!!

Though the opening hymn prior to commencement was accompanied with hand-struck drums and maracca, with piano and guitar, this ensemble played with a great deal of restraint and reverence - well knowing that their duty as musicians was to our heavenly Father. this one was a concession to the 60's generation (there are still many boomers ‘Spirit of VII’ in faculty and on staff etc), as we continued the Kyrie was robust and beautiful, in Greek!! (and though present, the guitarist was reverent, almost classical in their playing; if one were to have handed them a lute or theorbo, they could have been playing in the Baroque setting. We had an amazing call and response singing of the Psalm for the day; polyphonic, with accompaniment as above (with no percussion); amazing!! (it could well have been a Britton, Tavenner or Rutter setting), The gloria in similar fashion, and oh my goodness, the 'Angelis' (As a Marounite I am only assuming I heard correctly, because our form is different and in Syriac) in latin, yes, latin, LATIN!!!! in gorgeous Rutteresque polyphony for all of us to sing along with!!!!!! I was able to receive on the tongue (my right as a Marounite) as though it were the most normal thing in the world. the reverence was there, chiefly, I believe because of the Gen X priests and musicians, (doing the NO as it ought to be done...step by step, brick by brick). Not sure if the priests faced Our Lord's House, but baby steps, gentle readers, baby steps. The closing hymn was a beautiful 19th century British hymn with trumpet voluntary, the young lady trumpeter giving it her all in wonderful soaring golden reverence, her talent glorifying God. I was spellbound, absolutely spellbound, didn't clap when it finished along with the rest, couldn't, breathless with joy, just stood there, crossing myself, mouth agape (though I heard narky comments behind me 'she used to clap, but doesn't any more) from a boomer demographic member of the congregation). I prefer to give god the praise then thank everyone personally after the mass.

To be continued

I had confession with one of the young priests this morning and he didn't soft-soap it, but called sin sin, pointing out the way that at its heart, this separates us from god, and needs correction; gave a good penance too)... I long to be a daily communicant but circumstances presently prevent this; I asked him to pray for me that God will make a way for this to be permanently possible - he was honoured and more than happy to pray for me for this. these two priests are completely different from their fellows of boomer years that attend the Uni on the day's these priests aren't with us. One of these Gen X priests is the big boss of campus ministries; Please pray that next year when the priestly allocations for campus chaplaincy are changed, we get more like these amazing Gen X priests. Please pray for our music ministry people; they’re also Gen X and Gen Y with a fabulous respect for the liturgy and though they use contemporary material and a bit of ‘60’s sap’, they balance out the small amounts of sap with amazing music worship as outlined above; they’re walking a tightrope because of the Spirit of VII crowd that still make up a good portion of influencial staff/theologians/academic heads of departments. I pray our beautiful 1930’s altar has its art returned to it, that the little chapple down the back is also restored to sacred use and its altar restored, I pray we can have our high altar as the only altar during my time at the uni and that even kneeling to receive comes back for those able to do so, and that they’re not afraid to use incense (nasty OH&S uni policy stopping that). Please pray for these two Gen X priests, who’ll I’ll call Fr. A (both of them) for now. They’re amazing young men!! And we had the Adoration at 3, with CDM also; and one of the priests who I spoke to about Indulgences is OK about me using them (if I use them for others my departed family members). Wow!! Wow!! Wow!!!!! And next week, the Uni is providing a full holy week programme including Holy Saturday and Easter Sunday programme, Please pray for us doing Stations of the Cross next Tuesday, and Please pray for my trip to see atheist father and step mother tomorrow (30th march) that all is well, that it is harmonious, and that they don’t see me, but see our Loving Saviour jesus Christ, for they have no idea what’s coming and don’t believe any of it anyway.

PS: they’re not interested in taking Christ as saviour; we’ve had that discussion. Please pray for them.

American liberal influence is making my African country support ills like feminism and environmentalism. It's getting out of hand. I'm not blaming America and I believe America has many good traits but the problem is that America is a powerful superpower and it's using its power to spread disorder (e.g. liberalism throughout the world). The good Americans should stop their bad American brothers and sisters influencing things for the worse.

Sir Knight
Thank you for another great post. Prophecy is a particular area of interest to me and I posted in one of your previous entries. I have read your blog for some time but that post was my first one. Like Sarah I am live in Australia.
A very detailed post that is very timely. You applied it to the North American situation but Australia faces a lot of the problems that you allude to especially regarding moral decline. I am sure both Sarah and I will attest to that when you consider so much of the crap that passes for television these days. ("reality tv" is a pet hate of mine) People seemed to have thrown their hands up in the air and just accepted the fact but I interpret your posts (particularly this one) as a call to arms. We must evangelise and not be shy about what we believe in.
A few weeks back I was getting the train on a Saturday after I finished work (i work in the recreation industry)and it was the afternoon leading up to the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras and the carriage was full of people from out of town coming up for it (it was an intercity service) Swearing, saying the most ridiculous explicit things they were probably already drunk and they were mainly girls! Teengae girls. Loud and obnoxious and nobody was willing to say anything. Needless to say that Jersey Shore seems to have arrived in Australia!
When you we got to Sydney Terminal station I mentioned it to the driver and the train guard and they ridiculed me. "If you're going to catch the 'Mardi gras train' that's what you have to put up with" Excuse me? She went on to say that she has workd the evening that the Mardi Gras is on for the last four years and it was just a fact that had to be accepted. They said I was being silly and that it was one of the trade offs of getting the the intercity train on the day of Mardi Gras. She even joked to one of the cops about my complaint.
Excuse me but there is no such thing as a Mardi Gras train! I was catching the train after work. Sir Knight I hope you can understand my frustration at the way people have almost resigned themselves to the fact that such behaviour is normal. You have posted past blogs that have probably alluded to this and I hope you can at least share your views on this experience, especially as a fellow Roman Catholic that believes that society deserves much better.
Sarah I loved what you said about Gen X as oppsed to Boomers. I am Gen X (42 years young)and have met my share of boomers who are ageing leftist activists who chide my generation for being apolitical and too conservative. When I hear of the priests you mention it gives me hope!
God Bless

Stephen from 'near Sydney',

You wrote; "Needless to say that Jersey Shore seems to have arrived in Australia!
" yes, my friend, its called Wyong!!  :-0 (appologies to any readers from Wyong or thereabouts who are sincere folk of good will heartbroken over what these parts have become). These sentiments are shared by many Catholic Christians, be we Marounite, roman rite, those who long to see the AO bloom in Australia, plus ‘sensible Protestants’. You may be interested to read the ‘Seven Sins of Sydney’ series over at . Now if only Dr. Jensen et al could divest themselves of their Calvinistic misunderstanding of Catholic Christianity and sign onto the ordinariate, we could better work to lift the culture from the grass-roots up rather than the various factions of Sydney Christians at odds giving ample room for the enemy’s plans to prosper as they currently are.

Its reassuring to know that my fellow Sydney Gen X’ers are reading TCK’s blog; To any Syd/Aus or otherwise boomers who believe we are flawed re apoliticalism and conservative faith, when you left us with a wasteland to grow up in with next to nothing in the way of orthodox Christian teachings, because you wanted your little Woodstock hippy self-indulgent narcissistic love-in to take over the world and be the new ‘ norm’, when you divorced in droves at the changing of the family law act in 1974 leaving us the first generation to experience broken family life en mass for the first time in history, what do you expect? We see through the lies, understand what is fair dinkum, and have a pretty accurate bullcr*p metre to put it bluntly. Plus we are the parents of the tail end of Gen Y, Z and Gen Alpha; expect more of the same as we clear away the rubble and begin the recovery programme. To this end, we offer friendship, respect and support to Builders, war babies and boomers who also decry the cultural and faith desecration and stand shoulder to shoulder with you. To any Aus, in particular, Sydney Gen X or Gen Y priests who are reading this, to those who follow Christ in like manner to the Frs. A I have mentioned, we offer our prayers, support and encouragement, refreshed by what you are doing as Christ Jesus through the Holy Spirit sets your hearts on fire for the Lord and His truth.

Once a society starts its decline each generation is progressively worse. Society is definitely in decline. I think it's time for both of our generations to step up to the plate and take responsibility for out own mistakes instead of blaming the baby boomers.

Stephen, Anne, james and other Aussie readers,

everyone needs to look at this
The episode that aired at 6:30 this evening (Sat 31 March)EST will be repeated tomorrow at 1pm; so when you've come home from mass, you can see what you can do to encourage distributism (covertly) re learning how to be more sufficient re healthy community vegetable production (that i am sure will lead to fruit production etc).

Even though Costa might irritate some folk with his pantheistic tendancies', he's absolutely 100% correct re we the people learning how to feed ourselves, re-build local community, and re-solder bonds between neighbours, in families, and for us as Catholics (equally applicable to other Christians of good will who read this blog) how we can witness by example doing this sort of thing…want to gain a leg up re coming chastisement/economic depression, we should all be doing this!! In order that Catholic parishioners can help feed the needy in their local area, (and believe you me, 120,000 people in Sydney go hungry every day and far more are incorrectly nourished) we can speak to our priests and make a little start by putting some of these tastefully in the green spaces of our churches and rectories, convents and monastaries can plant them if they’ve let the side down here, and even the most beautiful of traditional churches can participate because this will not spoil your grounds if done with discernment. It (plus the programme etc) forms an incredible introduction to distributism/subsidiarity for cafeteria Catholics or those who think their ‘liberal sensibilities’ put them above such ideas; this should appeal to them and lead them down subsidiarist paths without them even knowing. And for those with disability or illness that prevents something on such a scale,
Those who are able bodied within the neighbourhood and parish would do well emulating this
The beauty of the community ‘verge’ approach is that people of all abilities can participate, doing what they can, even if this consists of their encouragement and moral support where physical disability keeps folk from the physical work.

This is NOT ecco socialism, it IS what EVERY parish, neighbourhood and community needs to be doing; it is organic Catholic society at its best. Team this with beauty, and place Christ jesus and His Mother Mary at its heart and we have a force that can potentially change the world!

Priests, Bishops, readers in Vatican HQ, Arch Bishops, Abbots and Abbesses, here’s the model, here’s how we can do it; not through unchecked liberation theology, feminism, socialism or Capitalism, but Subsidiarity that is natural and organic, humane to people, and guided by God’s Word; remember, before the fall, our First parents were placed into a garden…ponder this for a moment, all readers of TCK’s blog, after you’ve ceased drawing the conclusion that I’m barking mad.

Australia. .

Stephen and Sarah,

I do not doubt that you mean well but it's time to set the record straight. I am a "Boomer" born and raised in Sydney NSW and therefore I know a lot more about how "Boomers" spent their youth than either of you. I lived in suburban Sydney and never knew one hippie in my entire growing up or early adult life. Moreover, most of my peers married in their early 20s and knuckled down to raising their families. I married at 19 and had my first child at 21. My children span Gen X and Y.

I am fed up with the hateful spiel emanating from people who weren't there and don't know what the 60s and 70s were like in ordinary Sydney homes - we were not revolutionaries or hippies; get your facts straight!

Yes there are liberals and "leftist activists" from the "Boomer Generation" who oozed their way into influential positions (teaching, media etc) and are regularly picked up by the media for comments but these are the minority of "Boomers", not the majority. Talk about stereotyping!

PS Woodstock was in the US, not Australia.

Thank you Sir Knight for your interpretation. It makes sense!

I am suitably chastened. I know there are good boomers out there; there is a beautiful Aussie boomer who comments here who blesses me with her wonderful Godly courage and strength, plus many others of good will. Of course every generation has its flaws and as you rightly state, we are all called to step up to the crease. I took a swing at the boomer demographic in one particular class where the cultural revolution of the 60's, spirit of VII etc was being discussed and the boomer lecturer pointed out that though his demographic crested the wave, the system was broken legislatively by those in the halls of power of the day; the Federation generation and older builders... I appologize if I have upset folk by becoming too hot headed; I'll pull my neck in and think upon Christ's huumility, brought face to face with a lack of my own...

Thank you for pointing out those words of Zechariah. They do indeed seem to be describing the Chastisement. The theme of fire running through approved apparitions, as pointed out by TCK, and this Biblical passage certainly are a neat fit.

It sounds a terrifying ordeal ahead and as you say we need to pray to mitigate it as much as possible. I hope for a world-wide Rosary Campaign and Perpetual Adoration in every parish but I have encountered little support for this idea.

As for 2017, you may be right. I think it is close but will probably spring when we least expect it. Regardless of when, we must "trust Our Lord completely" as you say. Your words bring to mind the Divine Mercy prayer: "Jesus, I trust in Thee".

The plan given by our Lady Of Good Help will get souls closer to God. It has a childlike simplicity that I sense will endure through apocolyptic events.
In such times(as well as for any other)nothing matters more than the growth in holiness. The essence of this is a daily holy distrust/hatred of self. From this we throw ourselves in utter dependance on the Holy Family.
It's as if we are but urchins that have been let into the Heavenly Court by some back door known only Our Blessed Mother Of Mercy. Of course little did we know we were jumping from the frying pan and into the white hot crucible of Love that is genuine holy piety. Thus wretches are tansformed into childern of Mary. Our great reward is a supernatural anticipation for the next life.
As we carry out our earthly duties staying close to the Holy Family, we, by definition, die to ourselves to follow Christ. This allows Heaven to endow us with undeserved atributes that wonderously deliver us from the spirit of the world and thus our enemies. By this we attain the wherewithall fight the material and spiritual combat that comes our way. If we continue to cling to God, we engage the enemy with a holy resignation and rejoicing that God's Will is being done.
In short, we have far more to fear from our own sinfulness than from any outside enemy. Our Perfect Heavenly Mother will keep us gently oriented for that reality and this, via the power of continued Providence, enables us to accomplish Our Fathers work.

Re:"The good Americans should stop their bad American brothers and sisters influencing things for the worse."

I agree, but I don't think they can. The trouble is that although good people want to help, they are not the ones in power. That's how it is here in Australia and I think it would be the same in America.

It's hard waiting, but God will sort it out and I think that's what the Chastisement is all about: restoring this world to how it should be.

To my fellow Catholics around the world, especially those of you in Africa, Asia and South America, please know this. I am an American, and I can honestly say my government does not represent me in any way. Nor does it represent anyone I personally know - not family nor friends. I can honestly tell you my government only represents the ultra-wealthy and powerful on Wal Street, along with a few other international corporation. I have no control over what goes on in Washington DC. The candidates we vote for are pre-selected by the wealthy and powerful elite. Whoever we vote for makes no difference. They all answer to the same invisible powers. I regret to inform you my brethren, but Americans no longer have control of their government. Our elections are a dog and pony show. The outcome is the same when it comes to our actions in the third world. We Americans are now just as helpless as the rest of you.

Your gardening idea has a lot going for it. I agree that it has the potential to draw people together in wholesome activity that is subsidiarity in practice (doing what we can for ourselves) and charity in action (feeding the present poor, improving health all round and providing a valuable resource should the economy crash). However, although your idea is good and reasoning sound, I am not sure it will take off on a large scale as many will likely not see the value in it because they are unaware of the times in which we are living. Nevertheless, you have tried and your exuberance for what is good is inspiring and will surely encourage those who can see the truth.

You are a treasure and I feel badly about jumping at you in a previous post but I have come to the end of my tolerance of false history constructed with the beliefs, attitudes and behaviours of high profile radicals in media and education who aren't largely representative of their generation at all. It's a social construct to cause division and the innocent, such as yourself, believe it because you hear it everywhere and see it in these influential people, and it provides an explanation of why things are as they are. However, how the world has got to this stage is far more complex. "Baby Boomers" are the scapegoat.

I think you would have been shocked Sarah if you had seen us during the 60s.

My last comment to you continued:

Catholic suburbia, Sydney, Australia in the 1960s - no hippies or "free love" and only the mildest of rebellion. I'll try to give a brief snapshot of 3rd and 4th Years (called Years 9 & 10 today) when we were 15 and 16 years old, and of my first "going out" at 17.

Our Catholic schools were single gender. The school uniform included heavy denier stockings, hat and gloves. Sister would periodically get us to kneel down to check the length of our sports uniforms which weren't to be more than 1 inch (2.5cm) above the bended knee; ie not above the top of the knee when standing. We wore pinafores over our uniforms while at school to keep them clean for the week. We complied although some hated wearing hat and gloves but stockings (we wore socks with our sports uniform) and pinafores weren't a problem. Sister did encounter some resistance getting a few of the girls to not pull their belts tight. I remember her saying that they did that because they had boys on their mind.

No-one had a boyfriend but there were a few girls who would tell us they went to the beach on weekends and talked to boys there. They were considered a bit on the wild side. I never heard any bad language at school; in fact I never heard bad language anywhere except when a man would occasionally slip with a "b" word.

We would assemble in the playground each morning before class for notices, and when that was over and our lines were straight and properly spaced (measured by putting one arm on the shoulder of the girl in front to make sure we had the distance correct) we would mark time (left, left, left - right -left) until given the signal to march to our classrooms - no kidding!

One morning at assembly the head nun announced that it had been reported to her that one of our girls had been seen walking to school with a student from the boys school. (When we got off the train, the boys walking to their school (Marist Brothers I think) would walk on the foot path at the left side of the road and we girls would take the opposite footpath. Sister was not impressed that this norm had been breeched and said that the two would be dealt with and it was never to happen again. My friends and I never did find out who the girl was that was so brazen but everyone was curious because it had never happened before. Bear in mind they were not holding hands; only walking side by side and talking.

The situation at state schools was different. The one nearest us (a suburb away) was co-ed and teenage boys and girls mixed freely there. The dress code was not as rigorous. (A girl who lived near me and attended that school usually left the top buttons of her shirt open, her regular uniform was shorter than our sport uniform and her belt pulled so tight that she looked like she was almost cutting herself in half.) No hat, gloves or stockings either. Some used to make fun of Catholic School girls on public transport going to and from school.

Catholic classrooms typically held about 40 students and Sister had no trouble keeping order. Obedience to legitimate authority was normal at Catholic schools as it was at home.

The most rebellious act I can remember in my year was when a girl managed to "accidentally" trip over as many cases (school bags of the time) in the aisle as possible when Sister called her to the front of the class. The cases falling onto the bare board floors made a lot of noise in the otherwise silent room. I don't know what Sister said to Maria on that occasion but she never did it again.

When my girlfriends and I were 17 my father drove us to our first dance. Before we left he gave us a talk on the importance of virginity before marriage, and then he sat outside the dance venue until the dance was over in case a young man caused us any trouble.

And this was the swinging 60s?!?!

No offence was intended. Many people of your generation I have met were never part of the protest/hippie/Push scene. I was talking of those I have met. I am an aspiring writer who has had some voluntary involvement in the arts scene and generally loved it but the boomers I met in that scene were definitely from that era so that's who I was alluding to.
Sarah: didn't originally mention the suburb but I got on the train at Epping and the train I got was the Newcastle one so yes there probably were a lot of Central Coast people on there. Again, no offence. I especially love Newcastle (i think that their beaches are much better than Sydney's...I am a beach guy) and their beach areas are much more affordable than Sydneys but alas, when I see all the new apartments going up there I resign myself to it becoming a mini version of Bondi, Northern beaches et al...just look at the last few years in Wollongong)Next time I go there I will have to check out their main Church in the city.
Anyway greatto see many Aussies here.

Anne, you are absolutely right about the 'elite' scapegoating the boomers as a whole, now I actually sit back to consider it, and Stephen, re 'the Push', this radical undercurrent has openly been acknowledged as a driving force in everything that has been alluded to here. This element commenced their activities in the late '40's and '50's with the chief aims of weakening the power (in Aus at any rate) of the 'old guard' govt/legitimate authority, the RSL (Returned Servicemans' league, for non Aus readers - a very prominent force in Aus society till only a few decades ago or so, and still, some would argue, influencial to some extent in contemporary Australia), and the Church (be it Anglican or Catholic (until the 70's, Anglicanism across the board, be it the 'sydang' variety or more 'high Church' in nature was not too discimilar in its biblical understanding, theology and liturgy). the Push sought to subversively shatter this 'three legged stool', the ‘driving force of change’ consisting of 'the elite' in academic, the arts world, journalism etc.

The rot would have commenced far earlier post WWI as Christian europe and its satellite territories were irrevocably wounded via the atrocities of this inhumane and barbarous conflict – the perfect pick-axe to take to Christian faith, fidelity and accepted norms of civilisation, culture. Sensibilities. It proved, for instance, the perfect vehicle for the widespread practical application of Marxism, Atheism (can’t help but remember some telling commentary in Brideshead Revisited – a fiction, but I dare say, fairly representative of the reality Waugh lived through as a young man) and feminism.

I should restrain myself from listening to 702 (Sydney) I guess; (ABC local radio for non Aussies) wherein the ‘triumph of the elites’ over the ‘undemocratic repression of women, homosexuality etc’ prior to the ‘glorious revolution of the 60’s’ is still trotted out as the whole truth and nothing but the truth; Richard glover is one of the greatest proponents of this ideology, reflected in 95% of his guests, for instance; never have I heard a good word about the Catholic education of the time, or the men and women religious who dedicated their lives to teaching the the generations of the 60’s and 70’s; its all bitter repressive hatred that paints the Catholic education system of the 60’s and before as on par with a Soviet gulag…tragic!! Whenever Card. George Pell or his Sydney Anglican similars are interviewed, no exception is spared in perpetuating the myths on the part of RC (and likely his ‘higher-ups’…upsetting , seeing as Mark Scott (CEO of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation) , from what I understand, is a devout Sydney Anglican… Oh Come Triumph of the Imaculate Heart of Mary and Sacred Heart of our Lord Jesus Christ!!!

Sir Knight,

Thank you for emphasizing that we Americans do not have control over the “Leviathan” that is our federal government and its actions. As you say, "America is not Washington, DC and Washington, DC is not America." I'm horrified with what is done "in our name" all over the world. What really saddens me are the young men and women who join the military out of love for our country only to be used as cannon fodder for evil politicians and cause the death of many innocent people. Do you know how many of these soldiers come home to the States and commit suicide? It also pains me to see the garbage that comes out of Hollywood and the terrible image that is given of us as a people. I hope you’re wrong about Obama being re-elected because I believe he will be our Diocletian (the Roman Emperor who viciously persecuted the Christians). I hate to say this, but I think things have gotten so bad, I almost wish for an American Franco or Pinochet! What's wonderful about this site and other’s, is that we are able to connect with our Christian bothers and sisters in other countries and love and support each other. Let us continue to pray for each other and hope for the day of Our Lady's approaching victory!

Sir Knight and readers,

On a completely different note (there is nowhere else to share this), I participated in my first Palm Sunday mass ever this morning just gone!!!!!! Oh me!!!!!!! Oh me!!!!!! it was incredible!! As an Anglican growing up till 13 years of age, then SDA for 21 years, and then as an Anglican for six years immediately prior to my reception into Marounite Catholicism, Palm Sunday had never featured at all (Sydang calvinism and 'sola scriptura' has caused them to incrementally abandon the liturgical year, among many other things).

The mass was beautiful!! i found myself tearing up at one point; to receive my olive branch (in the Marounite rite, Olive as well as palm is given) was very very special, as we recall our Lord's entrance into Jerusalem a mere week before His passion, crucifiction, death and ressurection. Then to receive my King into myself - the Eucharist - All Praise be to our Lord and Saviour jesus Christ, heavenly Father and Holy Spirit, Thanks be to Mother Mary for conscenting to carry the Creator of heaven and Earth within her, to bear him, raise him, and suffer the humilliation of watching her beloved Son suffer the disgrace of a show-trial and criminal's death...All praise be to God!!

may all who read here have a wonderfully blessed and nourishing Palm Sunday, or Hosanna Sunday (as we call it in the Marounite Rite).

Anon RE: the Push
I have read quite abit of this era of Australian history and through my arts involvement I even met a couple of them or those who knew them. Whewn you strip away all the BS it is just nihilism. These people did not have the strength or faith to believe in ANYTHING. It was a broad movement (some were Rightists Libertarians, some anarchists, some statist leftists) but at the core was a disdain or mocking for anything resembling a coherent or positve belief system. I am not a Libertarian (to echo your sentiments Sir Knight) and even though, I had never heard of the term Distributism, from what I have read of your blogs, that is what I believe in politically. I detest this idea of being either for Big Govt or being Libertarian/Laisser Fare (i probably mispelt that!)I actually believe there are some things that the Govt does better, and some things that the Free Market does better. Services (essential ones) were never intended to make a profit and shouldn't be run as such. They are services. This is what the libertarians don't grasp. I am definitely not in the camp of the Randian cultists or the Asutrian school in general. And Capitalism in its truest form is something that I actually truly believe. Monoploy or wall Street capitalism is not really capitalism. Small business or the local Greengrocer or business in general is the Capitalism I believe in. I assume that's what you believe in Sir Knight.
Sarah RE: ABC. I agree with what you say about the ABC but I actually do enjoy Radio National (576) Not the politics or any of that but the interest programs are what I listen to. The Bookshow and the Spirit of Things are particular favourites. I agree 702 presenters and the TV journalists have an agnda that I can't support but even ABC TV has some shows and docos that are of interest to me. I hope that fellow Aussies can understand that I can be a Catholic and still enjoy some of the ABC. I also hate the idea pushed in the media that anyone who likes the ABc is a "latte sipping lefty/chardonnay socialist" etc.

I agree with you re essential services; and the role of Govt. We are blessed in Aus in this respect (even thouh the 'libs and labs', along with the greens) seem to be growing increasingly dim as the generations march on :-) :-0

Re your experience with 'the Push; this is fascinating!! Now that you mention it, when i stop for a moment and consider the individualism/materialism that has sprung up like a bed of weeds this past half century, nihilism seems to be 100% at the core.

Concerning the ABC, thank you for the gentle prod toward RN; I've not been game until this point, but if its a little more balanced than 702 especially 702's weekday afternoon programming, it can only be a good thing... Like you, I am also a Catholic who enjoys ABCTV (the BBC documentaries, some of the excellent Aus science documentaries (when one sees through any overt agenda pushing), the 'bonnet dramas' and some of its flagship news reporting.

The type of capitalism you allude to is what is often called in the trade ‘free enterprise’ as opposed to the ‘monopoly’, multinational, big corporation ‘coles/Woolies’ criminal operations…

Read this
though it is a little lengthy, it explains what distributism is, and what it is not. On the subject of beverages and political persuation, One fabulous commenter to this blog described distributists as (please excuse my rusty memory and own interpretation of original quote) ‘beer swilling idealistic dreamers’; I said it then and I’ll say it now – cider is by far the better drop, even better still is authentic Perrie (excuse spelling) I think G. K. Chesterton would agree that Perrie is the mark of the true distributist  (please excuse my levity).

As for me being a ‘latte sipping leftie’…hmm…is this the forum to admit to liking latte???:-) or perhaps coffee royale; (though this is likely also unsuitable for an orthodox Catholic lady 

May everyone reading here have atruly blessed Passion Week; this is my first as a Marounite Catholic, and my first ever, as Sydangset al put little to no store in this way of drawing nearer to our Saviour and His incredible gift of salvation.

PS: every Sunday evening from 5-6pm Eastern time, tune into 2MBSFM either via radio or on-line for those outside the Sydney GMA for a beautiful Evensong line-up, (think they’re putting on an extra programme for Good Driday though can’t be sure) and Friday evenings 10-midnight for Baroque and before; they usually slot in at least half an hour of beautiful Sacred music; perfect accompaniment to Rosary prayer, Novinas, CDM or meditation upon the Word of God. Perhaps we Aussie readers could come together during these times and pray in common, though separated be distance etc. for Australia’s specific faith needs, and for our Church and people to awaken to what is just around the corner.

Blessed Sister Elena Aiello (1895-1961) also had visions of a "chastisement by fire" which Our Lady explained “will be hurled directly from the Angels". This brings to mind what Anon and TCK discussed above (March 28) about the "Angel with a flaming sword in his left hand". Similarly, Blessed Elizabeth Canori-Mora (1774-1825) foresaw "blazing lightning bolts of Divine Justice" falling upon the earth.

Further, given the current economic climate what George Michael Wittman (1760-1833), Bishop of Ratisbon, foresaw may be relevant to our moment in history. He allegedly spoke of certain groups that would "work great ruin, and exercise a marvelous monetary power". Additionally, Saint Magdalene / Madeline Porsat, a Poor Clare Nun (1773-1843) apparently foresaw a "universal bankruptcy." Of course, she may have been referring to a spiritual rather than an economic bankruptcy.

My fellow 'new South Welsh' readers,

the chastisement cannot come quickly enough as far as I am concerned!!

Whatever one's political persuations, This
bespeaks the greed and hyper-materialism of our time. It demonstrates the way materialism at its heart stripps the humanity away from the human being; we cease being recognized as made in the image and likeness of God to being considered little better than a ‘borg drone’ generating treasure for the captains of ‘modernopolis’. Catholic economic understanding speaks passionately against this sort of thing re CCC#2424 and surrounding paragraphs, as does its practical outworking – Subsidiarity/Distributism.

Sir Knight and fellow readers,

I appologize for some of the content of the last link; as a Marounite Catholic, I absolutely DO NOT endorse the comments made by the author dismissing the importance of Saints' days and days of religious observance; they twist scripture to reach their conclusion and have even begun jettisoning the saints names' from various Anglican churches e.g. 'St. John's' such and such ville is now the 'Suburbia Anglican Church'... We need to pray for them that they can awaken from the disgraceful error of this terrible sacrifice of Christion tradition on the altar of Calvinism, the ‘five solas’ and other tragedies that miss the whole point of our faith, reducing it to a book that is idolized over and above the Saviour revealed within its pages. .

I'm very glad that your first Palm Sunday was such a wonderful experience, and I hope you continue experiencing that wonder afresh each year. Sadly, familiarity can dull perception over time.

I agree - Capitalism is fine if it operates in a just manner; that is, according to Catholic principles (Capitalism without greed). To me, Distributism is "Catholic Capitalism".

I wonder if any US readers might be interested in a news item I just picked up in the Sydney Morning Herald detailing plans to employ suitably skilled Americans in Australia, "especially in the civil engineering areas". Apparently applications will open mid-April. Unemployment is increasing here but apparently not across the board because "...the government was planning to run its overseas Skills Australia Needs expo in the US for the first time to attract skilled workers in the resources, energy and infrastructure sectors.

Anyone interested will find the article at:

ABC Radio has been running this for the past few days; Additional sectors include the trades; construction/building plumbing, electritians etc. US readers, you would like it here; fantastic weather, (even our harshest winter climates are positively mild in comparison with those of the Northern Hemisphere), tea, cricket, 'Auntie' (refer to previous posts :-), a good smattering of Catholic rite parishes (both Eastern and Western, a lovely fully church approved FSSP parish in Lewisham etc.

Also, please pray for me; a townhouse has come up 50 metres from church; this is a good church community (my Marounite parish & Community) I want to live near; it means my husband doesn’t have to drive me to everything, there is a fruiterer etc near by also; I can be a daily communicant, the community will look after us during the chastisement etc, because they’re good orthodox and community minded. Please praygod wills that we can make this move soon, if not to this exact townhouse, to something similar equadistant from St. Charbels, God willing - We can get to family etc just as well. Please pray for me for this that either this one is God’s will or another like it...

I would deeply appreciate the prayers of as many who can, here.

Sir Knight and readers,

I thought you might find it interesting that i met Prince Jean d'Orleans when i was a sophomore in college at the Univ. of San Francisco. At the time i had no idea who he was and was simply introduced to him by a Fr. Buckley who was our resident spiritual adviser/chaplain and also our history professor at the St Ignatius Institute that was founded by Fr. Fessio. This Fr Buckley is also a French historian who speaks French and used to travel there regularly when he was a younger scholar. He, like Fr Fessio, is one of the truly good Jesuits that is constantly persecuted by his superiors. Thank goodness that after some terrible assignments they (Jesuits) finally let him go to TAC College to be a chaplain for the students there.
Anyway, he introduced me to this guy named Jean and i have never forgotten meeting him: he shook my hand firmly and looked me in the eyes as he gave his head a slight bow sort of the way polite people from Asia do when they greet you. However, this was distinctly different from the experience of greeting an Asian person in that there was no note of habit or perfunctoriness. There was a certain solemnity about it that i have never been able to figure out until reading "Trial, Tribulation and Triumph" at your suggestion and this article we are commenting on. He certainly wasn't groveling or anything like that. Rather, for the first time in my life, i met and was greeted by someone (approximately) my age who simultaneously conveyed by his manner of greeting that people, in themselves through existence, carry a dignity that is beyond them. Since that meeting (we only chatted for about 5 minutes or so) i have always looked at myself a bit differently. I saw him again a few days later and said goodbye since i was leaving for Christmas break. He was staying for a master level winter semester class in business. That brief meeting also had a level of dignity i was not used to and i have never since experienced quite the same.
My older brother was staying himself for winter classes and for about three days straight had the good fortune to spend a lot of time with Prince Jean. It was the three days right after the semester ended and in that time he bested my brother in chess, frisbee, ping pong and everything else they did. My brother, exasperated because he was an exceptional athlete, and because Jean looked to all appearances pretty fragile, asked him how this was possible. They were in the middle of a ping pong game and Prince Jean didn't really give an answer, he just proceeded to win again. But the next day he told him, "Regarding your question yesterday -i've been privately tutored in many things since i was young. Do you want to go to lunch? You can get any French wines you like and i'll taste them and tell you what region they are from." And all of this without the slightest air of conceit or pompousness. So my brother says -and i believe him since it was the same when i met him. I can honestly say he is one among that tiny group of the most sincere people i've ever met.
Well, we found out only much later that he would probably be the King of France were the monarchy restored. Amazing -he treated us better than we treated him, and with more humility!
He did not have any limp, as some prophecies say the Great Monarch will. We did recently hear that Cardinal Schonborn baptized his latest child and that is pretty interesting seeing as they are both aristocrats.
If it ever turns out that he or his son or one of their descendants is the Great Monarch, i can honestly say i would be honored to have him as my earthly king, to be his subject. For his bearing, in stark contrast to our insincere politicians, is one of deep respect for those he comes into contact with. So far as i can tell, it would be a mercy if God decided to give this world leaders like Prince Jean of Orleans!

Ann said...

What you have written is very interesting.

According to Catholic prophecy I have read or commentaries thereon, the Great Monarch will have brown hair, a high forehead and prominent nose, and his name will be Henry or Charles. As it turns out, Prince Jean's 2nd name is Charles (full name: Jean Charles Pierre Marie) and his father's name was Henry. Prince Jean also has a high forehead and his hair looks brown in the picture I am looking at. I don't know if I would describe his nose as large - it looks correctly proportioned for his face - but his nose isn't small either.

Prince Jean turns 47 in May and therefore, if he is the Great Monarch, the Chastisement must be very close. As for the absence of a limp, I think that is received around the time the Great Monarch is commissioned to lead the Christians into battle.

Maybe it will be him!

Paul said...

I just reread the post i wrote and should probably clarify what could be a wrong impression. Prince Jean was not at all a frivolous person. He met my brother because they both left a college-type party that they both found unedifying. He was very well versed (i get this from my brother who spent all the time with him) in classical literature and was only a gentleman when he discussed intellectual things -a lot like our Catholic Knight i might add! He was never pretentious in any way and was interested through intellectual conversation in plumbing truths that are vertical or eternal, i guess you could say. He was not interested in looking smarter or showing how much he knew. He struck my brother as one of those rare and sincere searchers of truth. I have been trying to think of a single word that could capture the type of person i find him to be and finally last night i found it: he is a noble person so far as my limited experience of him goes. Noble is definitely the best word i can think of that describes him.

If it is really from this line that the Great Monarch is to come, then, like you intimated, i will wait with joyful expectation at the coming of God's mercy through the like of Prince Jean!

Ann said...

Don't be concerned. You didn't give the impression that Prince Jean was anything but a fine and impressive man, noble in mind and bearing. It has been a pleasure learning about him from your words and, whoever the Great Monarch might be, I imagine that he would be just such a person - and I would not be at all surprised if he is him.

Sir Knight, Paul & Others Here,
It seems that a communist revolution is presently building steam in France or at least an attempt is being made in that direction. Jean-Luc Melenchon, who is currently running in 3rd place in the lead up to the presidential elections there, has announced to "adoring crowds" that "Yes, there are thousands of red flags at the Bastille again" and "Another French Revolution is coming".

Ann said...

I should have mentioned in my last comment that the reason I was drawing your attention to what is happening in France is because approved Catholic prophecy indicates that France will be in turmoil during the Chastisement due to civil strife and revolution. Civil strife has been brewing for some time in France but I was stunned when Melenchon promised revolution, suggesting the Chastisement is not far away.

Paul said...

I love France and its people. They have been so spiritually persecuted since the revolution; indeed it took a satanic revolution to knock the catholicism out of France. So it is hard for me to hear these things even though prophecy tells us it will happen. I have zero French blood but love french spiritualiy so much that my wife and i have named (and will continue to name) all of our children after their saints, beginning with Genevieve who aided St. Clotilde in the conversion of Clovis. Thanks for that info so our family can remember the French people in our rosaries and prayers.

Dear Sir Knight:

Forgive me if you've addressed
this question before, but what's your take on St. Malachy's "Pope
Prophecies." I'm not convinced their genuine. Furthermore, some
"anti-popes" are not mentioned and some allegedly are. Therefore, some anti-popes may come before and after the famed "Peter of Rome."--God Bless

Cindy Willmot said...

Sir Knight,
As always, I appreciate your well thought out post. But here I must disagree, in part, on your analysis. For over 2 years now, I have been reading and studying about Fatima. In every sermon, my priest always tells us the key to our future, the key to understanding what is happening in the Church is Fatima. So I have begun reading and studying. I have also been reading True Devotion to Mary by St. Louis de Montfort. The great Saint warns us that the devil often used Marian devotion and Apparitions to lead us astray. As such, we must be very cautious and careful and diligent. I do indeed believe that Fatima is the key. However, you are right to say that there is a lot of confusion surrounding those events, Sister Lucia, and the Third Secret. From my own reading, I have drawn the conclusion that the 3rd Secret has nothing to do at all with politics or the end of the world, per se. It, however, has everything to do with the extreme loss of faith of the World and the corruption within Christ's Church. I believe this was too painful for Sister Lucy to write or discuss. After 1960, Sister Lucy was silenced and controlled, at some point by then Cardinal Ratzinger. After her death, her cell was sealed. I have drawn the conclusion that no Pope has done what Our Lady asked them to do, nor will anyone try. The Modernists want to do away with Her altogether, to convince us that She is irrelevant. But Our Lord will have none of that, and we will have to face our punishments. Yes, the Nation of the United States is soon to fail. We must be prepared.

God Bless you, Sir Knight.

"Russia" HAS spread its errors and America has embraced them: abortion, secular relativism, totalitarianism, and socialism---our present government is pushing this agenda with vigor.
