(WDTPRS) - The Archbishop of Colombo, Albert Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith Patabedinge would be ready to entrust the management and training of the seminarians of his Archdiocese to the SSPX. Such a step, according to the Cardinal would be possible if the SSPX is accepted and canonically erected. The Cardinal expects this project to improve training of future priests. The reports come from the Roman Rite website Messa in latino...THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT: Will wonders ever cease!?! Here we have an example of what many bishops in the Church feel, but now actually voiced by the good Cardinal himself. Have we found a successor to Pope Benedict XVI?

You can be sure that what Cardinal Ranjith has just voiced, other bishops will follow through should the much anticipated reconciliation happen between Rome and the SSPX. Can you imagine? Can you comprehend it? The wager has just been increased. We not only have the hope of a Personal Prelature for the SSPX, free of interference from local diocesan bishops, but NOW we have the prospect of various bishops throughout the world (following Cardinal Ranjith's lead) actually letting SSPX clergy control regular diocesan seminaries!
Rather than wait for the Church's reform, the SSPX is practically being given the chance to get out front and lead it!!! I would like to point out, these are not the Church's institutions making these offers. These offers are being made by individual men who are currently in power (for now) by the grace of God. Refusing these offers at this time would be a foolish choice indeed. It doesn't get any better than this. My advice is to seize hold of the opportunity now before it slips away. A moment like this does not come often in history.

Canon Law actually shows that a Personal Prelature would be an unfavorable option...they need either an ordinariate or need to become an Institute of Pontifical Right...i would think the Ordinariate would give them the most flexibility...Canon Law shows that a Prelature would give the least...

I am personally in favour of whatever gives the SSPX the most flexibility, so an ordinariate structure sounds great. I suspect the Holy Father will do whatever he has to do to make the deal stick.

Pope Benedict XVI has rejected Vatican Council II (AG 7) in Light of the World p.107: Also Cardinals Bertone, Bagnasco, Koch and Ladaria. Yet three SSPX bishops could be excommunicated for only ‘saying’ they reject the Council
Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone,Vatican Secretary of State says Jews do not have to convert in the present times in a Letter to the Chief Rabbinate of Israel. This contradicts Ad Gentes 7, Vatican Council II.
Cardinal Bagnasco ,President of the Italian Bishops Conference, in an official directive says Jews do not have to convert. He contradicts Ad Gentes 7, Vatican Council II which says all need Catholic Faith and the baptism of water for salvation.
Cardinal Luiz Ladaria, Secretary of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith,Vatican assumes invincible ignorance and being saved with a good conscience (LG 16) are explicitly known exceptions to AG 7, Vatican Council II.
Cardinal Kurt Koch, President of the Pontifical Council for Christian Unity and relations with the Jews, rejects the SSPX position on Judaism and ecumenism. He contradicts AG 7 which indicates all people, Orthodox Christians and Protestants too, need Catholic Faith for salvation.
The pope and his Curia have accepted these heretical positions under pressure from Talmud Jews. Newspapers have reported threats from the Chief Rabbinate of Israel.
Now they are trying to thrust it upon the SSPX bishops with threats of excommunication. They themelf in reality do not accept Vatican Council II.

Bishop Richard Williamson and the other SSPX bishops are in agreement with AG 7, Vatican Council II on ecumenism, Judaism and other religions. They only ‘say’ they reject Vatican Council II when in reality their traditional Catholic values are those of Vatican Council II. They do reject the Koch-Ladaria version of Vatican Council II which is a break from tradition with their explicitly known invincible ignorance, a good conscience etc.
Pope Benedict XVI in Light of the World (Ignatius p.107) has repeated that Jews do not have to convert in the present times. This is contrary to Vatican Council II, the Nicene Creed (‘I believe in one baptism…), the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus and the Bible (John 3:5, Mk.16:16 etc).
In his ‘one channel’ of salvation (p.107) Pope Benedict XVI suggests those who are saved are saved through Jesus and the Church. This is fine. However he is implying every one does not have to convert into the Church for salvation. Since he assumes that those saved in invincible ignorance and a good conscience (LG 16) are know to us and so are exceptions to the literal interpretation of the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus and to AG 7, Vatican Council II.

Cardinal Luiz Ladaria S.J says that the Church no more teaches an ecclesiocentric ecclesiology or the literal interpretation of extra ecclesiam nulla salus. Since Pope Pius XII in the Letter of the Holy Office 1949 corrected Fr. Leonard Feeney.(Christianity and the World Religions 1997,ITC). If Pope Pius XIII or the cardinals believed that the baptism of desire was an explicit exception to the dogma, then they obviously made an objective, factual error. The Letter of the Holy Office 1949 however, Cardinal Ladaria does not admit, supported Fr. Leonard Feeney in the first pragagraphs. It refers to ‘the dogma’, ‘the infallible teaching’. The text of the dogma a, addressed to the Archbishop of Boston, indicates all Jews in Boston, and the rest of he world, need to convert into the Catholic Church to avoid the pains of Hell.
This is also the message of Vatican Council II but no one from the Vatican Curia admits it in public, Instead they want to axe the three SSPX bishops.

...And in all of this we have the exact reason why the rift between Rome and the SSPX must be healed, lest we find ourselves in endless debates concerning mind-numbing details about who said what and by what authority. We, the Church, must get our house in order (as much as possible) because our time for internal debates draws close to an end. Already the enemy is at the gates, physical persecution is on the horizon, even in the United States. In just a matter of years (maybe even months) all of this debate will be irrelevant, as the Church will no longer have time for it. It must be settled now, or else never at all.
You better re-cork your champagne, Mr. Knight. If/when the pope issues a document regularizing the sspx, most likely 3 of the 4 bishops will reject it, bolt and form a splinter schismatic group. What will be left of the SSPX will indeed be a small remnant, rather than the "monolithic" structure that exists right now. Personally I feel that any proferred reconciliation by the pope is a gesture of charity alone, with his due concern for both church unity and the welcome of the souls of those misguided by SOME sspx priests. These continue to preach venomously from the pulput against the "new mass" (actually, new rite of mass) and to denounce Fellay as a sell-out (Just read Traditio) Split into factions the SSPX will wither on the vine, as has been the case with protestantism with its multiplicity of divisions. You are quite right in saying the SSPX needs the Church more than the Church needs the SSPX. This is true. The Reform of the Reform is happening with or without the SSPX regularisation. However, it would be nice if the SSPX were part of it, and it looks like both the Holy Father and some of his highest ranking bishops are willing to put the SSPX out font of the Reform and let them lead it. It's a pretty generous offer, from both the Holy Father and Cardinal Ranjith. I am certain that Archbishop Lefebvre would have accepted it with all humility and grace. If 3 of the 4 SSPX bishops reject it, they break not only with their Superior General but with their founding father as well. Yes, they will go the way of the Sedevacatists, effectively becoming "functional Sedevacatists" in spite of what they say on paper. This will marginalise them, and lead them into obscurity. Meanwhile, Bishop Fellay will be free to consecrate replacements, and the largest districts of the SSPX (France and North America) will follow his lead.
Like I said however, it's not over until the fat lady sings, and as far as I know, there is no deal yet. It all rests in the hands of the Holy Father, and that is why we must pray for him now more than ever.

Cardinal Bertone also had called the attention of the Chief Rabbinate of Israel to a front page article in the L'Osservatore Romano written by Cardinal Walter Kaspar in which he stated Jews do not have to convert in the present time.The front page article (April 10, 2008) in the L’Osservatore Romano was written by Cardinal Walter Kaspar. It was presented to the Chief Rabbinate of Israel by Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, Vatican Secretary of State. It was approved by the Holy Father Pope Benedict XVI.The article said that Vatican Council II indicated that non Catholics can be saved. So Cardinal Kaspar concluded that Jews do not have to convert in the present times.Cardinal Bertone and Cardinal Kaspar offer Mass as usual with no public clarification.

To deny the Bible (John 3:5, Mk.16:16), the Nicene Creed ('I believe in one baptism for the forgiveness of sin'),Vatican Council II (AG 7), Dominus Iesus 20 etc is a grave sin. A Catholic priest, bishop, cardinal or pope needs to issue a clarification to remove the scandal and to personally receive absolution in the Confessional when they know about this sin.Until then, according to Canon Law and Ecclesia di Eucarestia they are not to offer Holy Mass or receive the Eucharist.
