It's official. The Catholic Knight is retired.  I'm hanging up the helmet and passing the torch. There will be no more articles, no more commentaries, no more calls to action. THIS BLOG IS CLOSED. I've spent a very long time thinking about this, I believe the time has come, and is a bit overdue.  I want to thank my readers for everything, but most especially for your encouragement and your willingness to go out there and fight the good fight. So, that being the case, I've spend the last several weeks looking for bloggers who are fairly active, and best represent something akin to the way I think and what I believe.  I recommend the following blogs for my readers to bookmark and check on regularly. Pick one as your favourite, or pick them all. They are all great..... In His Majesty's Service, THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT

ELECTION 2012 - The Catholic Vote

THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT:  Please review the two videos posted above.  You will find them on every single page of 'The Catholic Knight' blog from now until election day in the United States -- November 6, 2012.  Please share these videos with every single Catholic you know, regardless if that Catholic is practising or not.

"The Catholic Knight" blog will not tell you how to vote.  That's right, I will not tell you how to vote or who to vote for.  I will tell you however, how NOT to vote, and who you should NOT vote for.

In summary, this is it.  A Catholic, under pain of mortal sin, may not (under any circumstances) vote for a candidate who supports any one of the following, when an alternative candidate opposes them...
  1. Legalised Abortion
  2. Legalised Same-Sex Marriage
  3. Legalised Persecution of the Catholic Church
Any candidate who supports any one of these three things is a wicked man/woman, and is not deserving of political office.  Catholics are morally obligated, under pain of mortal sin, to vote for a candidate who does not support these things, whenever one exists in any given election.

In the case of the U.S. Presidential election, I will make this one statement.  There are a number of presidential candidates who oppose all three of the above anathemas.  However, there is at least one who supports all three of the above positions.  That candidate's name is Barack H. Obama.

A Catholic may vote for a number of pro-life, pro-family, pro-freedom candidates this November 6, but a Catholic may not vote for Barack H. Obama without committing mortal sin and putting his soul into the danger of Hell's fire.

Please share this message with as many Catholics as possible.  Thank you.

Iraq Turns Against USA! Sides With Iran and Syria!

(Reuters) - Iran has been using civilian aircraft to fly military personnel and large quantities of weapons across Iraqi airspace to Syria to aid President Bashar al-Assad in his attempt to crush an 18-month uprising against his government, according to a Western intelligence report seen by Reuters....

THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT: See, I told you so. America has lost. We rebuilt Iraq from scratch, after we bombed it back into the stone ages. This is the "thanks" we get.

Is it really all that surprising? -- really? Our Middle East policy is insane. It was started under G.H. Bush back in 1990, and has continued seamlessly, through Democrat and Republican presidents, all the way until now. Obama has been a team player in this, and Romney will be just as much of one. How much insanity can we the American people take? Will it take another World War to wake us up? How many Americans will need to come home in body bags before we realise what our government is doing over there?

Russia has sided with Syria. Iran has sided with Syria. Iraq has sided with Syria and has been helping Iran arm the Assad regime. Meanwhile the USA sides with the Syrian rebels, arming Islamic radicals, for the purpose of overthrowing the government while throwing Syrian Christians under the bus. All of this is for petroleum interests, not so much wells but pipelines. This insanity must stop.

These radicals we are supporting in Syria?  Who are they?  Well they are the same sort of radicals we supported in Egypt and Libya.  How's that working out for us lately?

Soon Israel will bomb Iran, and when she does, we will be dragged into a massive regional war. Hopefully this will not spread elsewhere, because if it does, it's World War III baby. The big one.

Prepare the way for the Great Monarch, because before this is all over, that may possibly be the result.

America's Self Condemnation

THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT: Today is the eleventh anniversary of the terrorist attacks on New York and Washington DC on September 11, 2001. The Catholic Knight wishes to extend his continual condolences and prayers for the families of the victims of those tragic and cowardly attacks on that day.

What I want to discuss here though is not the attacks themselves, though they were horrible. Rather, I want to discuss what happened immediately afterward. In the wake following 9-11, a surge in American patriotism rose to a level so great that one could no longer buy an American flag. They were sold out in stores everywhere. It was the single greatest period of support for this nation ever seen in my lifetime.

However, what happened immediately after, on the day after to be exact, was something so remarkable, so stunning, so incredibly unbelievable, that most Americans were oblivious to it. It was the symbolic response of America's leaders that ultimately served as a condemnation against America.

In the video above, Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle gave a speech outlining America's official response to the 9-11 attacks. You can view this in the video above, and if you fast-forward to exactly 3 minutes and 20 seconds into the speech (3:20), you will see the most remarkable thing ever to take place on the Senate floor. It is now a matter of congressional record. Senator Daschle quoted this verse of Scripture...
‘The bricks have fallen,
but we will build with dressed stones;
the sycomores have been cut down,
but we will put cedars in their place.’

-- Isaiah 9:10
Then he said something even more remarkable. He said this passage will be our national response. "That is what we will do" he said.  There is however a problem with this response.  Let's put the passage in context...

The Lord sent a word against Jacob,
   and it fell on Israel;
and all the people knew it—
   Ephraim and the inhabitants of Samaria—
   but in pride and arrogance of heart they said:
‘The bricks have fallen,   but we will build with dressed stones;the sycomores have been cut down,   but we will put cedars in their place.’ So the Lord raised adversaries against them,
   and stirred up their enemies,
the Arameans in the east and the Philistines in the west,
   and they devoured Israel with open mouth.
For all this, his anger has not turned away;
   his hand is stretched out still.
The people did not turn to him who struck them,
   or seek the Lord of hosts.
So the Lord cut off from Israel head and tail,
   palm branch and reed in one day—
elders and dignitaries are the head,
   and prophets who teach lies are the tail;
for those who led this people led them astray,
   and those who were led by them were left in confusion.
That is why the Lord did not have pity on their young people,
   or compassion on their orphans and widows;
for everyone was godless and an evildoer,
   and every mouth spoke folly.
For all this, his anger has not turned away;
   his hand is stretched out still.
-- Isaiah 9:8-17

Senator Daschle actually read a verse recounting the boastful pride of an ancient nation that was under the chastisement of God!  Then he identified this verse with America saying "That is what we will do." This is a matter of congressional record, stored in the archives of the United States Congress.

Now please don't misunderstand me.  Senator Daschle did not have any kind of authority to invoke this passage of Scripture and make it apply to the United States of America.  Based on the context of the passage, he didn't have the competence either.  Nor is The Catholic Knight blog reporting that this passage is somehow a prophecy for America.  It is not.  However, I do think God has a way of telling us things from time to time, and I do think he sometimes uses the words of our own leaders to get his message across.  The quotation of this passage was a gaffe which Senator Daschle made in ignorance.  Nevertheless, I sometimes wonder if God may have used the ignorance of this national leader to send a message to us as a nation.  Indeed, we are a prideful people.  Anyone with a Biblical worldview can see that.  No, we have not at all repented of the foreign political actions that led to 9-11, nor have we repented of the social sins (abortion, homosexuality, greed, etc.) that have plagued our society for decades.  If anything, all of these things have gotten worse.  We did rebuild (are rebuilding) the World Trade Center towers and the Pentagon in Washington DC.  The sycamore tree that once stood outside St. Paul's Chapel was destroyed by debris from the falling towers.  This is where the constitutional government of our new nation was religiously dedicated back on April 30, 1789.  (At that time the City of New York served as the nation's capitol.)  That famous sycamore tree was ceremonially replaced with a cedar tree.  Again, is this the fulfilment of a prophecy?  No.  That prophecy was directed toward the ancient nation of Israel, but again, I do think God can (and does) occasionally use such things to send us a message.

The financial impact of 9-11 was staggering, and to alleviate some of the economic haemorrhaging, interest rates were dropped to a ridiculously low level and kept low for years.  To keep the economy chugging along during the Middle Eastern wars that followed 9-11, interest rates were kept low, and Americans were encouraged to keep spending in the name of American patriotism, so as to keep the economy from falling into recession.  This contributed to unsavoury lending practices, which in the end led to the subprime real estate collapse of 2007 and 2008, finally resulting in the famous stock market crash of September 29, 2008.  This occurred exactly 7 years (to the date on the Hebrew calendar) after the speech made by Senator Daschle on September 12, 2001.  The Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 7% of its value, or 777 points.  (See Biblical passages about the sabbath year in Exodus 23, Leviticus 25, Deuteronomy 15 and 2 Chronicles 36:20-21.)  This led to the greatest recession in American history, and it would appear it is not even close to being over some four years later.  If anything, there are now signs of a double-dip in the near future, as well as another potential downgrade of our nation's credit rating.  That's not to mention another, and possibly bigger, war looming on the horizon.  Again, was this passage from Isaiah a prophecy?  No.  But it would appear that Senator Tom Daschle inadvertently turned it into some kind of an omen for us, and it would appear, quite ironically, that God was playing along.

Americans have always had a strange fancy about ourselves.  Throughout our history Americans have looked at the United States as some kind of "New Israel."  During the 19th century, Anglo-Israelism was extremely popular, wherein many Protestant pastors taught that Britain and America were the descendants of the lost 10 tribes of Israel that were dispersed after the Assyrian invasions between 762 and 676 BC.  This of course is ridiculous, but it does underscore the "Biblical" character many Americans have historically assigned to themselves. Some have connected this Anglo-Israelism ideology to freemasonry.

Sometimes I wonder if God plays along with us.  Regarding this passage in Isaiah 9:10, it's almost as if God said: "Okay, you Americans have wanted to play Bible for centuries, so let's play Bible!"  The passage was a curse against ancient Israel for their pride and rebellion against God.  So again, it would seem, it is becoming a curse against the United States of America for our national pride and rebellion against God.

Why America Will Fall

THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT: Michael Voris once again hits the nail on the head with this above video. The problem with America, the problem that will soon be its demise, is that it was founded on religious pluralism. That works up to a point, but once that point is reached, it starts to implode on itself.

That's because the inclination of human beings is to eventually take an argument to its final and most natural conclusion. For most people, this happens subconsciously. Their attitudes simply change over time, and more often than not, they are at a loss to explain why. For those of us who think for a living, contemplate and ponder, the reason is plain to see. When you accept the notion that religion really doesn't matter when it comes to important things in life (like who your leaders shall be for example), then it's just a small leap to the mindset that religion really doesn't matter in your own life either.

Now the problem with America today is that we are waist deep in this relativist sewage, none of us can escape from it, and we are not alone. Other Western nations are dealing with the exact same problem to varying degrees. Pope Benedict XVI, while he was still Cardinal Ratzinger, referred to it as the "tyranny of relativism." It's all around us, it demands our full allegiance, and there is no getting away from it. Our allegiance we can deny it, but we still have to trudge through the soup. We are going to get sullied by it, indeed we already are, and there is no place to shower. Even if there was such a place, we would still be waist deep in this stuff. In elections, we are told to vote for the lesser of two evils, and if we don't, we effectively get evil anyway, through lack of our vote. There is no winning, and for the longest time, I used to wonder why. Now I know.

You cannot build a house on sinking sand. America's foundation is sand. We have build our house fast and we have build it high. We've even reinforced the walls and shuttered the windows. We have made a house that can withstand any storm, if only the foundation were solid. I don't know when the structure will collapse, but I know it will, and it doesn't take an architect or engineer to figure that out. So it is with the United States of America, and since the rest of the world has followed our example of revolution into a secular age, the rest of the world will follow us into our social demise, starting with France probably, since France was the first to follow us. Other nations will follow as well; Italy, Germany, Spain, Britain, all of Europe, North and South America, and the Pacific Rim. For when this great structure finally collapses, it's going to take out a lot of surrounding structures. When will this happen? Don't ask, because I don't know. But I know it will happen eventually.

The issue of election, candidates and political parties is a trivial one really, because we are only debating the furniture within the house before it falls down. On an immediate level, that can be important, especially when it comes to raising your kids. In the long term however, your grandchildren and great-grandchildren, it's not so important. What is important is how we will rebuild when this great American experiment is finally over. Yes, we will rebuild, that is certain, but what will it look like?

For the last couple years I have educated my readers about the cultural distinctiveness of the American South (Dixie) and I have tried to make known that we Southerners (Dixians) are still a people and we still exist. Will the South rise again? Of that I am sure, but what I am not sure about is what incarnation it shall take. I have no illusions that the Dixie of the future will have significant resemblance to the Dixie of the past. It won't. It can't. The political foundations America was build on have failed, and that includes the political foundations of the American South (Dixie). What has kept our people alive and kicking is not our politics. It is our culture, and as I have said many times on this blog in the past, culture is based on "cult" or religion. The religion of the Old South was different than the religion of the New South, and so consequently, the culture is different as well. It is still nevertheless distinguishable from the Northern and Western cultures, but different from what it once was during the time of General Lee and President Davis (1860s).

The problem with religious pluralism (a form of relativism) is that it is the natural outgrowth of something else, and that is simply the multiplicity of religions. Europe was once united in religion, under the Holy Roman Empire, and among all European nations, Britain was the most Catholic. With the divisions of the Protestant Reformation however, came a multiplicity which was kept somewhat separate in Europe, but immigrants all over Europe brought their multiple creeds to America, and in order to live in peace (side by side) pluralism was developed and eventually enshrined into our laws. When the collapse of the United States finally happens, I believe it may take on a form of collapse not seen in over a thousand years. I'm talking not just about an economic crash, or a political crash, though these will certainly be part of it. I'm talking about the complete functional breakdown not only of society but of religion itself. Something so big, that people will be left questioning their very faith.

What could this event be? I don't know for sure. I know what would take down Evangelicalism. The fall of the State of Israel. If the secular State of Israel ever ceased to exist, Evangelicalism (literally tens of millions of American Christians) would be instantly thrown into spiritual chaos. Initially, there would be cries that the "rapture" is near and the second coming is nigh. However, when the much anticipated "rapture" fails to whisk them away, and the second coming is delayed, they will question their faith. Their entire religious belief system will crumble. Many famous pastors will be ruined virtually overnight -- their careers ended in shame. Denominations and affiliations will be forced to completely rewrite their eschatology, and this will ultimately drive more people away from their pews. I'm talking about a complete functional breakdown of religion in America, in addition to economics and politics, and that's a pretty scary place to be when you really think about it.

The Catholic Church, both in her Eastern and Western rites, must ready herself for this. For it is not our doctrine that will need to be rewritten. If anything it will be confirmed. What is necessary now is that Catholics put away their Democrat (progressive) or Republican (conservative) ideologies and start going by what the Church teaches. The day may possibly come, within our lifetimes, when our once proud Evangelical neighbours will ask us, what did your Church teach before the collapse? and we must be ready to tell them it taught the same thing it teaches now. For in the not-too-distant world to come, that will be a novelty.

That all of North America will eventually be converted to Catholicism I do not doubt. I also believe it is not necessary that this happen before new governments are erected on this continent to replace the old, but I believe they will not stand unless Jesus Christ is recognised as their cornerstone. The new governments of America's future will have some resemblance to Europe's past. For that will be the way of the future. As for my beloved homeland of the South (Dixie). I have no doubt some government of this type will become our standard. I do however, believe that the South is in for another cultural upheaval, which will change its character once more as the religion of millions of Southerners (Dixians) will soon suffer a catastrophic event. In the future, people will no longer have tolerance of pluralism, but what remains to be seen is what form of religion Southerners shall adopt en mass. I have my feelings about this, as I'm the type who believes most things run full circle eventually. Southerners (Dixians) are descended mostly from English, Irish and Scotch. All of these were at one time staunchly Catholic peoples. I firmly believe they will be again.

What of the other regions of America? I suspect each will endure their own kind of upheaval after the fall. The American Southwest is fairly predictable. It was Spanish territory once before, and it likely shall be once again. As for the rest of the nation, well, lets just say I think they will soon find a lot more in common with Canada. These are just my speculations of course, and who knows what the future really holds? but I think its long since past due that we start thinking outside of the box on this. The signs of our eminent collapse are all around us. Even if a future president manages to pull a "rabbit out of the hat" and produce an economic turnaround, that does not change the social-religious implosion that has silently been going on for the last several decades. Our time is running short.
